Time for an update, the coolant hoses were perished.
No tools required to drain the radiator
It also has a drain tap for the block, I think the idea was to drain the water if left outside in freezing conditions
Radiator removed for back flushing
All back together with new hoses and clips, I should really look for some wire clips as they would be more period correct

Time for an oil change, I'm used to buying 5 litre oil bottles, these were a shock to the pocket
Getting the pick up strainer out was fun as the previous owner has used Silicon sealer on every joint
Removing the filter gave a nice view of the pick up
Oily bits to be cleaned up
Nice and clean, I wondered why the pick up filter had a copper gasket face, then worked out it was to enable the mesh to be soldered to it
No replaceable air filter here
Some thought goes into the design, you can't lose the oil filler cap as it is held by a strong spring and hooks onto the neck for filling

Great to see one of these on the forum. Had one on the farm where I was born, originally bought new by my grandad and 1st tractor in the village. It certainly earned its keep. Dad put hydraulics off a Whitlock digger on so we could have a loader bucket that would tip right back for slurry, it also meant we could use an hydraulic bale clamp. It was fitted with wider back wheels and a massive concrete block, again for shifting slurry and manure. It eventually ended up getting sold to a monastery near York, eventually getting dumped outside but as apparently gone now so hopefully someone as rescued it ?

How does this work then? Also what about the petrol paraffin ones, paraffin was never a road fuel.

Apparently red is still ok for charity tractor runs;
HMRC confirms red diesel usage for charity tractor runs
Charity tractor runs will be able to continue to use red diesel following industry pressure on HMRC to backtrack on a controversial legislation change.
I guess, technically, running a DIY TVO mix containing non road fuels would be illegal tax dodging. Doubt, in reality, anybody cares enough about the odd little grey fergy. Maybe if you'd lowered the compression in your daily driver and were starting up on petrol then switching over to a second tank of mix to save a few quid, things might be looked at differently.

You can get a licence to mix and use TVO as a road fuel, most tractor clubs will issue them free with membership.
