Next thing will be that the eye's in the sky will be able to measure the pollutants from cars as they move about and pinpoint them. The fun we used to have.No problem, they have satelites that can measure it all, and pinpoint the stack emmitting it.
IIRC they are equipping speed cameras with sensors to detect a polluting car.Next thing will be that the eye's in the sky will be able to measure the pollutants from cars as they move about and pinpoint them. The fun we used to have.

How much is ripped off? What part of Scotland, round here we are getting ripped off for a a builders bag.
If you read through the posts on this thread you will see that I seem to be paying the most per cubic m.How much is ripped off?
A lorry load of 26t locally is the best part of £2500. I see them for sale in Scotland for £1500.
Just for the wood thats about an extra £10 per bag to produce.
What gives you the impression it's a full bag ?If you read through the posts on this thread you will see that I seem to be paying the most per cubic m.
I buy mine from the best part of 20miles away, if I went local then it ridiculous.
Where can you buy a lorry load?
This is my closest supplier, and that is 0.8cubic m. Must be a child standing next to the bag.

IF thats a true 0.8m3 then thats the same as £197.50 per m3. Or about £99 per standard builders bag.If you read through the posts on this thread you will see that I seem to be paying the most per cubic m.

I am surprised weights and measures haven't poked their nose into the log industry, a "load" can be just about anything. I knew of a loggist that threw an upturned wheel barrow into his truck before he put the logs in, he would turn up to make a delivery with what looked like an impressive load. When he was pointed at where they wanted them stacked he would wrestle the barrow out from under them

They do where they get a complaint and have the resource to investigate. There was a case in Wiltshire a few years back - guy was advertising one tonne of wood delivered, he had a one-tonne pick up which he was loading level, turns out that’s not actually a tonne of wood, very hefty fine as I recall.
Yes spruce needs to be well seasoned, once chopped into logs and stacked I’d say 12 months, pine can be like that also, lots of sap which needs to be dried off
Yes, leave it out in the rain one winter at least before drying.
Yes wasn’t trying to sound pedantic but the best way to season logs is to get the wind blowing through covered logs, that’s not to say they won’t get wet occasionally but generally covered.
My logs are stacked outside, uncovered. They're there for two years. At the end of the second summer, usually September, I bring in enough for the winter into my log shed, totally dry and covered.
