Second delivery this winter, first one was hardwood (£185 for 1.7m3) and lasted 55 days, this is larch as they had no hardwood, £160 for 1.7m3, will be interesting to see how long it lasts.

Weigh them both and you'll have your answer. All wood has the same calorific value by dry weight, volume is irrelevant!
I've just collected a load of freshly cut Cherry, already sawn into 9" slices. The guy has more but I need to work out how best to load it in the trailer. This batch I laid the slices flat in two layers. Piling higher would put it above the sides of the trailer so would need to be secured in some way. Or boards to build up the sides of the trailer, or some sort of brainwave.

How do I weigh the last batch that is now burnt?
That is keeping the living room at 20C. Rest of the house about 16C.Put a jumper on.

I lit the log stove in the lounge because the in-laws were coming for dinner. Lounge just hit 21c so the MiL has just taken her coat off. Rest of the house is kept around 14 to 16 during the day depending on the room.
It was worth a few quids worth of logs, I just received a remote control fart machine with extra bass that I placed under the sofa earlier. Its a pity they're as deaf as posts, we all had a good laugh though.

I've 7 pine trees down since the storms, they were dead, that's my winters fire wood. Shame my chainsaw is still playing up.

I was the same fizzy until I discovered smokeless fuel now I’m using 1/3 of the wood, just don‘t have the time for burning purely wood just now.

Very similar here plus some coal for overnight slumbering. All cooking, hot water and heating the house at 21C throughout though. Like you though Fizzy, if I couldn't harvest my own wood it would be cost prohibitive.
I get chunky pallet wood. Only needs 3 cuts per piece.

Started burning the larch a few days ago, it burns very clean, no smoke and little ash, but it doesn't burn that hot. Early days but don't think I would use it again given a choice.
