No I gave up when I was ill. Hoping to start again ASAP.Did you get further with that cnc mill you were trying to ressurect?
This IS getting stupid.New fines of up to £300 for using log burners

Seems pretty hard to police, but, considering the three stage process and relatively small fine, not outrageous. Probably more about raising awareness of not burning soggy plywood and kitchen units than earning any money.New fines of up to £300 for using log burners

As many as 12,000 people a year would die in London due to smog. Strange how the anti nuclear mob are so strong and yet nobody says ban coal.Having driven along a Border's valley at the weekend, and seen the smoke/smog hanging in the valley around a couple villages, I'm surprised more hasn't been done about log and coal burning.
If you go through some rural villages/towns on a cool still day, the amount of smoke and particulates hanging in the air is often far worse than being in most inner cities.
Really, nobody? Plenty want coal gone. I burn a small amount each year as it does have some good qualities for rural heating but I wish I didn’t have to.…yet nobody says ban coal.
Germany has/is phased/phasing out their nuclear power plants in favour of coal.Really, nobody? Plenty want coal gone. I burn a small amount each year as it does have some good qualities for rural heating but I wish I didn’t have to.
Nuclear is I think in most people’s opinion a better option than coal for a power station but I stand to be corrected there.
And that is exactly why their CO2 emissions are through the roof. It seems banning nuclear is far more important to them than saving the planet.Germany has/is phased/phasing out their nuclear power plants in favour of coal.
I think they've now all been shut down.Germany has/is phased/phasing out their nuclear power plants in favour of coal.
The Germans were just on the news telling the journalists what the UK should do. Those who live in glass houses and all that...And that is exactly why their CO2 emissions are through the roof. It seems banning nuclear is far more important to them than saving the planet.
I agree there but the Germans burn lignite which is filthy stuff. It also puts out huge quantities of CO2. More so than gas.I think they've now all been shut down.
However a power station is going to burn coal far more efficiently than your typical household fire or stove, so per tonne of coal, the particulates from a power station are going to be less than from households.
Particulates kill people CO2 kills the planet - simpleAre we in danger of confusing Co2 with smoke or soot particulates here?
Particulates in towns are not good, but burning wood in the countryside must be good because it's renewable, therefore carbon neutral.
And the particulates from a house stove is much greater but a hell of a lot cheaper for the household than paying for gas, and paying for electric heating is even more expensive, needs mustI think they've now all been shut down.

Yeh I burn pallets also fizzy, but not exclusively so, whatever I burn there‘s not a lot of smoke once up to temperature I run my stove hot by doing that and because of the secondary burn there’s very little in the way of unburned hydrocarbons, that’s the way you should use a wood burner, if there’s a lot of smoke it’s either not up to the correct temperature or because the vents are not set correctly or the wood is not seasoned. As you know I burn scrap pallet wood. The thicker stuff from 2 way pallets thst nobody wants. Incredibly clean burning. Only a tiny bit of smoke on start. No smells outside the house not that I have any neighbours. I even save all the nails for scrap
