Only a tiny bit of smoke on start. No smells outside the house not that I have any neighbours. I even save all the nails for scrap

box section rocket stove the gypsey upright is the box section whilst its small it fails on output emmisions
whilst i agree with you i will post these
the 1st pic is incineration not collected data whilst blaming wood stoves for the output
the 2nd pic above shows many stoves the rocket stove drops to 1 log per 3 - 4 hours with alot of heat output as it uses flow
last pic this is where it bugs me the most it uses a few logs to get to temperature first for the first hr this is the conn of the stove industry as this is direct to the chimney before it hits down draft or
so for every 3-4 logs a rocket stove of 1 log is up to temperature fast whilst putting out less emmisions than a normal stove
the emmisions is also less over 4hrs of one log compared to a normal wood stove with a rocket stove as we use secondary air input a normal rocket stove without secondary air will put out the same emmisions as a normal wood stove as its a straight through system
however its not the same heat output at the exhaust at the rear of the stove 300f instead of a normal woodstove at 1000f +
a rocket stove needs to slow down the exhaust air to collect the ashes within itself instead of up the chimney a normal rocket stove collects a good amount but stilll ejects some fine ashes whilst a normal wood stove ejects higher amounts further into the atmosphere
has the rocket stove been tested yes in america at the decathlon it failed but due to no secondary air and fast flow up the chimney

My Hunter stove runs very well. Barely a trace of smoke outside. Chimney swept every 2 years and only about a small dustpan of soot. And we run it all day every day in Winter.

if you look at any downdraft stoves it works in a direct line to a chimney just like a normal wood stove does until it gets up too temperature for say 3/4 of an hr or up too 1 hr
take a look at these videos you will see how many logs it takes just to get up too temperature and they all do it
so for 1hr the emmisions output is through the roof and your burning just like a normal wood stove without secondary air usage
this is the conn of both the wood stove companys and also usa eps regulations and uks emmissions regulations as compaies can change loadings and results
there is another conn any stove that uses electricity should also be included as its using a different power source so therefore should have less emmision points as its using energy another way also note any wood stove that does use electricity will fail at power cuts or just wont light or be energy efficent
and none of them are recorded in failed power cuts or to show its poor emmisions rated during these times
note the straight through rocket stove with non secondary air works the same way
whilst the rocket stove that uses secondary right from the start acts differently

Modern stoves are very efficient appliances vastly different than old open fires. Therefore the flue liner is required due to the cooler gases coming out which would otherwise cause issues within a large chimney. Including increased sooting up etc. Stainless liners are cheap and much safer...

Thats the long term aim. I'd crack on with that then. Use the tinkering time wiring and putting bracketry together. Simplest and easiest would be a direct system, connected to the immersion that you could use a changeover switch to flip between solar and mains. But better would be a grid tied...

It is the cleanest burner I have seen. Tiny amount of smoke first thing then almost nothing all day. Chucks out a fair bit of heat and glass stays nice and clean.

no you maybe wrong on thinking that
usa have already banned non secondary air wood stoves it is coming in for the uk
they was allowed to sell off premade non secondary wood stoves or multi stoves until a certain date what people dont realise they can have a banned wood stove installed thats only a year old and they can get finned for it as its above the emmisions regulations
fizzys stove would be above the emmisions regulations
as with fizzys statement it looks clean but its not and if you bank down for overnight burning the emmisions really fail badly as the stove is set too low to perform a clean burn of the material inside of the wood stove

fizzy if you look at the pics of the emmisions or find your model of stove you need to know its emmisions output
the pics above are 1.8g per hr thats the output of your stove as being burnt as a normal wood stove secondary air has less emmisions output but not always true
whilst downdraft has a much lower output
rais bionic fire has 0.50 g per hr as with the pics above thats downdraft burnt through the ashes but has a price tag of over 1000.00 and others are high priced
but has to be burnt for 1hr in a normal state of wood burning stove state at 1.5g per hr then the emmisions drop to the 0.50g per hr this happens with any downdraft model makes no difference which model is picked its start up is where the bad emmisions are
this is the conn of the wood stoves it dosnt tell you this info
its not recorded on the emmisions test and also not registered with start up with bad emmisions
its log usage is pretty high of say 5/6 logs being burnt and sent up the chimney
whilst the rocket stove has startup kinderling like any stove, you can soon swap too logs and its one log for 3-4hrs worth of heating
Dunno then. We can heat, hot water and cook using it. We have no other heat source.

since my mother has past away i can now fit the rocket stove boiler that will feed 2 hot tanks of water to be used for hot water and also central heating ( used during the morning )
with 4hrs worth of heat going into them from 1 log is worth it
whilst im building the france euro metal rocket cooker like the rayburns its based on steel built instead of cast iron for cooking
im using the tech of the secondary air systems as its come on a long way
but it will need a hot plate renew as it will fail
