When I started using it, there wasn't the cupro\nickel option, copper or steel was the two readily available brake lines. Having had so many problems with steel on the old crocks I could afford, copper was the way to go.
Pre WW2 copper brake lines were the standard brake lines that all manufacturers used, it was the scarcity and cost after the war that promoted the change to steel.

Thats one bit of progress i won't use. Even Lockheed are against using it, It features on the first inside page on the Lockheed application manual.

" Made in the USA-used exclusively by the US Military and specified as standard by Harley Davidson. Non-toxic and long-life, silicone fluid is safer and more user-friendly than glycol. It never needs changing, will not catch fire easily and does not damage paintwork; neither will it boil below 260°C (500°F), even after 5 years. Non-hygroscopic (i.e. will not pick up moisture, thus reducing corrosion), silicone fluid retains a virtually stable viscosity through most temperature extremes.

Conforms to US DOT5 standard and US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 116 (FMVss116)."

Hello Langy,

funnily I worked for Lockheed for two years, not that impressed. Bendix, who took over the contract were much better.

Again I've used this stuff for a very long time (25 years?), and the discussions I've had, spongy brakes, difficult to bleed, water globules etc. Well it has worked for me and I certainly would not use it if it didn't work?

that looks like the Oakes flaring tool, which I've used for a very long time. Does a good job and easy to use.

That's similar to the one I've got, though mine was a little cheaper, second hand but has dies from 3/16" to 1/2".

I used to work with copper alot and mine cost 300 pounds and was a ridgid one did up to 3/8 21g. supper tool, expands copper as well as flaring
