I have managed a few more hours on the mancave and got the insulation up in the stores. Found these ali sticky back fixings for holding the insulation back, wish I knew about them earlier

That looks good is the insulation directly on the roof or do you have sheeting & an air space above it ?

For our log cabin walls I made my own cutting up 2 mm thick engineering DPC plastic sheet on my band saw & used 45 mm long turbo wood screws drill screwed through the predrilled 50 x 50 squares , partially screwed into the outer walls so there was just a few mm clearance between the foiled plaster boards I put on later . ( checked every screwhead with a baton for clearance )
. For the roof insulation retention method carefully lined the gaps with heavy WPM plastic stapled to the trusses stapled on a 6 mm bead each side of the trough then I cut up a few lengths of new 44 x 66 cls ,into 44 x 5 mm strips & then cut them lengthwise down the 66 widths for thin lathes that sat on 6 mm square strips& stapled up inside trusses so the plaster boards were a few mm clear of them .

But you can have too much so that the insulation sweats rather than lets moist air percolate out upwards through it . Found that out because over my bathroom there was 18 inches or more of rock wool roll and the underneath was quite sodden . I made a few enquiries and found out the the excess depth & unfoiled backs on the boards was the cause.

Along with air tightness. You then need to consider MVHR in an ideal world to keep the air fresh and reduce the heat loss. A chap I know heats his whole house with just over 1kW a day. Mind he does have triple glazing and Icynene, full filled, expanding foam in his 400mm thick walls.

There is about an inch of air space. All the walls were done when I built it but I thought I would get away without doing the roof ( no chance ) That bit of insulation has already made a huge difference, the sun has been showing on/off all day and the difference in temperature between that store room and the rest of the shed is very noticeable, nice and cool. Just need to get on with the rest of it.

Today I managed to get the dibond sheets up on the store room ceiling, fiddly job but I stuck with it. Polycarbonate roof lights to fit tomorrow.

When we made the roof trusses, we fixed battens to the bottom edge, for the plasterboard to sit on, lay 100mm rockwool, and metal sheeting screwed down.
Battens fixed from the inside, also support the plasterboard.
It keeps the noise in, surprisingly well, and stays relatively warm in winter and cool in the summer, people do comment on how cool it is inside, compared to the house.

I have a twin sheet wriggly tin roof with 150 mm of insulation foam between them for the garage roof & an inner 3 inch insulated block wall tied to the outer wall ( done 10 yrs ago at property refurbishment time ) . Once the insulated roller door is down , it's heated by two 7 watt CFL's ... I've never ben cold in it .

Even today when it's 26 oC plus out & about with it closed up and the CFL's off if is a mere 20 oC inside.

Dragged a couple of rolls of conveyor belt rubber out of there hiding place with the excavator, kin heavy stuff, four strips wide exactly.

Layed it out to give it a chance to uncurl and started to put up the shelving.

Nice one ...you might need to put a louvered vent in if the floor sweats ... I found I had to cut a 110 mm dia core drilled hole through both skins slip in some unused spare soil pipe and add a downwards facing soil pipe right angle to get some gentle air movement warmed by the two 7 watt CFL's ( wired in parallel so if one dies, the other might still be on till I've noticed & renewed the dead lamp ) that are on 24 /& through the year because of it sweating .
