Yes I agree . Cutting the pivots off and welding them to a new piece does throw up some potential problems of alignment .I think you made a wise decision to do it that way.

Going really old school on drilling the four holes for the motor plate. Love this hand drill. It will be next on my list to refurbish. View attachment 132849 View attachment 132850
It is. But I really enjoy using it. Just basic hand power with no electric insight. Brilliant .Proper Fred Dibnah thing that haha.
Mine is missing the ratchet part. But it does the job. And is almost effortless in operation .the one we had
had a ratchet that as you wound the handle the drill bit started to go down into the metal that just quarter turning the other handle
it had a 1/4" ratchet bar and every full turn it clocked it round a little

Yes. I got it in the correct angle .Nice to see you remembered the mug for scale .
Why is it you have everything except the one you want. Got heaps of drill bits including dorma . But no. Two sizes I can use. M10 or m12. M10 drill tap is 8.4. And m12 drill tap is 10.2. The two I haven't got ffs. View attachment 133157
Yes. I think I need to splash out on some more. Faffing typicalYep usual story I got that sick of it I went and splashed out on a new tap and die set containing all the taping drill bits as well as taps and dies
M10 drill tap is 8.5mm but doesn't look like you have one of them either. Why is it you have everything except the one you want. Got heaps of drill bits including dorma . But no. Two sizes I can use.
