That Mk2 S would be £20 to £30 grand now, even with a mangled shell....

I was told of a well kept cooper that fetched £40,000 and i was at a car show and was chatting to a guy who makes replica coopers that look just like the real thing but even they are £20,000.

Even 90’s minis (inc non coopers) Are fetching £5-£8k. Late model Sportspacks around £20k

Thats well into E Type money .... now let me think , I wouldnt take long to decide which way to go.

I regularly get to see Mini's people have paid top money for that are really bad and are just shiny coats of paint over dodgy bodywork.

Someone I know has an immaculate soft top one, low mileage & all matching numbers, he reckons it could be a quarter of a million on a good day. It looks to good to drive!

They [ E types] seem to go from 20k to 80k in regular cycles , depending on the economy , then again most things seem to . I thought 30 or 40 would get you one tidy and driving.
Well just had a quick look , they certainly have not gotten any cheaper , plenty at sub 50 , but a few asking 125k plus . No harm in asking.

My mate sold a clean one maybe around 2012 for £12.5k
He reckons that was the value of a tidy one when it sold. A few years either way they were £50k

He also imported a engine less 912 Porsche for £6500 and an engine for £1500 from the states and a couple of years later they were sold for £12.5k and £6k respectively!

This is all good news for me, the scrap yard of cars i have hidden away is better than any investment available.

One of our clients was the Daimler Jag dealer for Cambs, he offered me a V-12 E-type for 1/3 off in '73 and lent me one for a bit. Since it was to be my daily driver, with a 50 ml commute, I bought the Ginetta, simply because of the fuel consumption. Also, our general manager had a 3.8 Coupé and I had driven it often and wasn't that taken with it. The Ginetta was loads more agile fun.

Not in the same league but I wonder how much an old Astra mkii with less than 30,000 miles would go for. Not long ago I saw an older mini parked between modern cars. It looked tiny compared to the modern stuff.

try driving one , you get some sense of scale ,,, lol. Im six foot and fifteen stones , my mates the same , I restored his original first car for him a few years ago a mini ... ten miles in it was enough for me. He likes it though , thats the main thing , how interesting it would be if we all got our own first car back to drive again .. maybe a thread in that on its own.

Pretty sure the wrestler giant haystacks had a mini and used to sit in the back to drive it, this was in the 70,s and at the wolverhampton civic hall wrestling venue.

Yes I have driven the older mini's. I liked them and was impressed at how well they handled.

Certainly '' of their time'' , have you driven a Starlet Turbo , or a well sorted 205 gti 1.9 , some fun things out there .

My Gran loved him , and Big Daddy , but never liked Mick McMannus ,,, oh Dickie Davis world of sport and a Saturday afternoon .

I know plenty of people over six foot who drive minis, there's plenty of room them.
