The building is Fairfield Tool & Die it’s in an old library building built back in the early 1900’s.
Were you in the Workman’s club, my daughter is running it just now whilst her mother in law is on hols.

also to note you have cut your beams level with your wall when you shouldnt have done

your going to need to put a spacer in, on each beam so when you fit the facia board it goes under the beams and drips off below the wood beams if you fit a plastic fascia board as it stands now it can rot your beam ends

note 1" below your beam

are you putting on cement render up the wall ?

Ah the library !! played snooker in there once ... no back in Llangynwyd to visit god daughter, had some surgery. went onto pencoed and home to Swansea, was dry and sun at least then ! Next time when ever that is i'll knock the door !!

I’m hoping the roller shutter will be fitted when I’m back and I’m ordering the roof on Monday as there’s a 2 week wait for the order so it can be made when I’m away. Unfortunately I’ll only be home for 3 days before I got away for a week so not really sure I’ll be able to get it finished but as long as it’s on site and secure I don’t mind.

Hadn’t thought about that! I can put a 2x1 around the perimeter.
I was gonna fit an 8x1 tanalised board directly behind flashings the same as on my upper roof. You can see there are two layers of tanalised boards at the peak of this new roof as the Z-flashing will be screwed to it and slid under the existing sheeting.

Wasn’t gonna render. Probably just give it a few coats of Sandtex.

Nice one mate. They do 400mm too So I can hide all my 9x3s topped with 4x2 timber.

Back home last night, back on it today. Roller door arrived and fitted and roof delivered, cut in (only one corner was square!!) and fixed down. One overhang to cut back tomorrow then fit all weather boards and flashings. Gotta get some expanding foam tomorrow to fill the edge before the upright z-flashing between the two roofs gets fixed. Very very happy but tired guy tonight!

Today’s instalment.

Expanding foam seal along the old wall, tanalised timber along the edge of the roof after cutting off the long overhang roofing sheet, then foam board on top of the timber to give it a nice finish then the flashing. Still have a small piece to fit and the upper z-flashing tomorrow then fit the glass units.
The flashing along the long wall is a bit overkill but it covers the timbers so all’s good and by the time they gutter goes on it’ll look ok.

is that grey metal or plastic ? on fasia board

if you want its better to cover that insulation or it will discolour something shocking as it gets older

I would have considered cutting a plastic fasia board shaped per raise so it fits nicely to the metal sheet and siliconed it up I know it takes time but it does look much better

another thing building that wall up is going to be a git with that plastic being there id have filled it in before putting on that plastic

I am going to get the roofing company to cut me a coated strip and bond it to the end of the insulation. It just means I have to take out the end roofing screws again. No big deal.
The fascia is painted to the rear and plastic coated on the front. I decided to fit a white plastic foam panel on top of the tantalised timber just so it has a nice radiused edge under the metal fascia sheet. Didn't really need it but wanted it to look finished.
To be honest I just want it useable now. It's SO close to completion, and its dry and secure.
I recently purchased a concrete polishing disc and a grooving disc to clean the bottom joints so I can point them the same as the upper ones. I can put a few coats of Sandtex on it then. I'm not gonna plaster it. Paint inside and out then polyurethane paint on the floor.

Got the final flashing fitted, then cut back the expanding foam and fitted the z-flashing to the old roof before checking all fixings and joints for leaks with a hose. I’m not gonna be around for a few days so I closed in the big holes with a few 6x1’s screwed to some blocks for ballast and finally fitted tie down straps down the wall.

Also fitted the glazed units to the windows so it’s now secure and dry, just need to tidy up the mess inside and start painting and throwing some cables in.

first thing id get in is some wires and do a few temorary lights as we are losing light fast so better have some sort of light in there

id also add some more 2 inch insulation in between the beams every little counts in warming the lace up shame really that you hadnt insulated between the beams as you did the roof
easy enough to do now been easier before though i thought you was doing before you ut the other insulation roof on it

Theres 75mm of insulation between the inner and outer roof skins, not much point insulating inside. I'll probably lose more through the roller shutter. I already have an extension lead in there to operate the door. Once I get some more time I'll start putting some cables in.
