Love watching this come together, can really see the space now.

It's funny you should say that as I was just thinking the complete opposite. I can't really get a feel for how big the space is going to be at all. When I started building my office it's seemed massive, but once I started accumulating very important stuff (bits and pieces) in there it started to look a whole lot smaller. Now I just have a little pathway through to get to my desk.

i do hope your putting a joist at the end right near the wall for something to fasten too if you are fold a joist hanger other way so it fastens inside then it will give you a wall tie as well as something to fasten your boards to being inside

TBH I wasn’t going to. I’m going to brick up the gable ends (is that what they’re called?) onto which I’ll land my 4x2 rafters then I’ll put timber between the 4x2’s to close it all up. I’ll bolt these down with concrete screws.

Do you think it’ll be enough?

I’m fitting a Trisomet 40mm insulated roof. It’s 40mm insulation with a 35mm sheet to the crown, so pretty much a 75mm sheet.

just asking as at one side theres not much to fasten to if you try to use a wood fasten to the wall and really no strength there as goes for other side you could run a length of wood down the slope of the wall fasten it to the walls and fasten your 4x2s to it

id just put a beam on inside of the walls

a strength for the roof and also somewhere to fasten your inner osb boards too
b the outer wood would be something just to help hold down the front edges of the roof at apex wall level

I’ve bought them @roofman but I’m gonna screw them to the joists and shape them so they’ll be cemented in with the blocks in between the joists. Hope that is ok as I hate the look of those ties down the wall.

its not the look what they are for to change there design of them is silly just fasten them to the walls dont fit them inbetween the blocks as there length gives them strength of weight down the walls so it dosnt get ripped off

they are ugly but a massive part of the roofs structure and integrity...as Gaz has said get long ones and fasten to the wall as they will prevent your roofing coming off in high winds...

Cut in all the joists today, fitted my 4x2 rafters tied the gable ends in with 4x2 ready to block in in-between and measured for my roof.

You can see from above just how out of square the footprint is!

id drop that top one lower by 2"or 3" so that you can fasten roof 4"/ 5" below the top

noticed you havent put a beam in right at the door way if you dont and you drill the front end to the bricks you will losen them by drilling and screwing them down the back is different and can be fastened down by those wall ties

Cheers @gaz1 I’m actually gonna cement some bolster cut blocks all the way around (across the gable ends and between the joists down the side and screw the 4x2’s down to the blocks then fit the ties. Hopefully that will have it all secure.
I can’t drop the level at all as the roller shutter box will interfere with the roof. It’s as low as I can take it. There’s still a 5” fall so I’m not concerned.

im fine with that but wouldnt advise drilling the end where your door is it will loosen at that point easy way around it is put a beam on the inside near the wall and then it becomes a strength beam for the front end
it could have been done on both ends but in this case dosnt need it its how brick built houses are done the beam ends at the internal wall rafters run up it and the laths run across to the ends of the wall
a strap for the front and rear of the beam is all thats need to hold it down
