Got a few small bits done..
It has been like that since it was made and has survived in commercial use for donkey's years so I would not let it bother me, but I am not you.Almost ready to make a start on the apron. But one thing is really annoying me. There are 5 bolts that hold the saddle to the apron. One of the bolt holes is missing a few threads. This is a casting defect. There is about 5 good threads at the bottom . Given the weight of the apron when it complete I am a bit concerned about only 5 threads on that bolt hole... I could drill and tap the next size up but that would mean a bigger head on the bolt that wouldn't fit the original hole. Not sure on this one.....yet.View attachment 212843 View attachment 212844
That's a good point. It has been like that since it was made and has survived in commercial use for donkey's years so I would not let it bother me, but I am not you.
Should be fine but if you were concerned you could Helicoil it.I could drill and tap the next size up but that would mean a bigger head on the bolt that wouldn't fit the original hole. Not sure on this one.....yet.

gotta admit I’m loving this rebuild I hope one day to be able to do this myself, need a bigger garage first lol just an option but not sure as unsure to where the hole is but you could drill a bigger hole and then weld in a plug and then re drill an tap the plug, helicoils are good but dunno if you need a really long helicoil, again hard to tell from the photos.
keep up with the great work can’t wait to see this finished
I will keep my eyes open.Guys.
