New Aldi "Ferrex" cordless tool range

Just been told that the printer was set up to print the 1st layer was set up to print 30% larger by default to improve bed adhesion. That might help explain the slot width (on the face against the the bed) for the copper tabs coming out at nom. 0.79mm rather than 1mm as designed.

Going for a "standing up" print next. Less supports where it's noticeable:

@ukracer , apologies but if you're mid print with that Makita 2 Ferrex adapter it might not fit!

You will be pleased to know I printed with supports and one side is like glass. So once we get a working print we can work on your printer settings. Or vice versa.

It's only just dawned on me...

The thing you printed that "came out perfect", at the 2nd attempt after I altered the angle, was the Ferrex "female" i.e. my STL of the Ferrex tool base.

The thing you printed yesterday, Sunday, that seems miles out, was my first go at the Ferrex "male" i.e the recreation of the top of a Ferrex battery. Try it today, I'm betting the male you printed last night will not slide into the "perfect" female as too tight.

If everything takes only two attempts I'll be happy!

Yes mate...after a lot of sleep you are correct.
Not miles out as it first seemed because I never tried it on the female part I printed...lol

Yes. My reckoning is the undercut the arrow is pointing at should have been 6 rather than 5mm high. It'd make the top lip therefore 4mm rather than 5 as present.

As it is that's what I imagine is stopping it sliding onto your Ferrex tool?

Agreed. That is what I can see from the limited amount you can actually view.

I'll send you the little slice STL. That fits a treat into a Ferrex tool here. Be interested to see if it fits in the Ferrex female / tool base you said a Ferrex battery fitted perfectly to. Super quick to print.

To use similar settings to yours: With the Creality profile for Cura 4.6 from that link you sent, my lad had to select an Ender 3 Pro in Cura then copied the machine settings from his Anycubic i3 Mega S.

We're now trying the slice I sent you earlier.

Slightly tight...

The most useful thing I found when flashing the new silent board with Marlin was baby stepping. If you can see the first layer is going down too thick you just go to tuning and wind loads of baby steps on. You will see the layers change....of course you may already know that.

What does the shim you sent fit...I am getting as confused as you as my wife keeps interrupting my printing with DIY tasks...it's getting annoying now.

You mean this?

Its meant to slide into a Ferrex tool to test the fit. A Makita battery then slides into the "female" of it to test that. I'll take a photo later.

I've calculated I likely don't have enough years left let alone money to complete all the DIY projects I'd like to. Mine are biggies though like new roof on the house, solar PV, solar thermal, room in the roof of the garage, biogas plant, new drive, landscaping, sewage treatment plant...

Then there's the carp she wants like a garden bed from old pallets.....
