that is one bad job and no doubt at all where those bricks are it will be weakand i will be surprised if it doesnt break up there. as for the shuttering and the holes that is terrible it hasnt been tamped at all what would worry me is have they bothered to tamp the rest of it properly or just enough to be able to float it off ?

doesnt look like a job that will last to me

trading standards needs contacting not that they ever seem to do much

mike with regards to the cement mix to remedy the holes i'm a little concerned about the gap under one of the house bricks. Would a 4:1 mix(essentially a brick mortar) be strong enough? would it be better to use a higher concentration of cement to make it harder?

i have a feeling the 4:1 would have a tendancy to crumble

Wont crumble unless it dries before it cures..... use a plasticiser or a bit of pva adhesive in the mix.

right well i've had an abusive call off the builders wife this evening (he was hiding in background, i even called her on it!) after leaving them terrible feedback on a website that they advertise on

she's asked why we've done it? etc etc and "dave" was going to call you back, he's been away etc etc. I think 4 days is more than enough time to make a courtesy call to an unhappy customer hence why i left it.

Anyway she's threatened to send round a building inspector to look at the work and if he says its up to standard she's going to sue me

anyway bit of advice required off the professional builders does what he's done live up to building regulations? ie have i got anything to be worried about? i'm pretty sure it doesn't. but the missus is now worried some dodgy builder knows where we live!

and where has he been for the last 4 days where you cant get mobile coverage
he knows he has done a bad job thats why he hasnt manned up and contacted you
as for knowing where you live doesnt that site tell you where he lives or at least where his business is based

It is nice to see a person stand up for them selfs, just by the photos you can see it is a poor job.
Im on freeindex & get approx 45% of my inquirys from there it is a well used site.
I just hope that it saves some other poor sod from there **** poor workmanship.

For the money, time and hassle it would cost to sue you. can't see them winning. it would be cheaper for them just to fix it.

Any way sue you for what slander or libel? you got to be rich to do that and i cant see a lawyer taking that on

exactly! also for either of those, the statements have to be untrue/fictitious, which in this case they aren't so i guess they wouldn't have a leg to stand on!

i dont think he will have a leg to stand on because,

you ask him to pour you a concrete base not concrete and hard core the work is sloppy and what reason did he have for putting bricks in the base invite him to sue you tell him you would love to see him in court at his expence

oh and during the call the woman kept asking for my surname i said "why would you need my surname?" i said "you tell me why you need my surname and i'll decided if i need to give it to you" anyway shes said "well we've got your address" to which i took that as a bit of a threat so phoned the cops to report it.

They've then contacted her straight away this evening on her mobile and warned her not to contact me as i took her surname questioning and address stating as threatening and not to contact me further otherwise it would be deemed harrasment and she'd be liable for arrest she also told them that this had been noted and should anything happen to my property they would be round to see them sharpish!

the cop told her if she wanted to sue me she should contat a solicitor! go on the cops!!!

Do you have his address details, if so one tactic is to get a quote from another builder to remedy the work, send to dodgy builder and advise him to either put right or you will get the works put right and then take him to court for the cost. Not sure if small claims court will cover it.

they only thig you have to watch out for is have you got planning on the garage (it might not need it anyway) or otherwies he could go blabbing on you to the council.
