its because you jack the sheets into the air it becomes cold on both sides of the metal
therefore dosnt melt the snow off in winter
its below where the insulation is important normal house insulation is on your ceiling this makes the loft area cold
but with central heating pipes run in the loft areas this makes the loft area warm in end it can rot your wood beams out
this is why tin roofs drip like a pig when heat hits it
warm roof method is your illustrated one but the metal roof is the cold roof type
