That's changed nothing. Think of a funnel, liquid flows through it in one direction. Your field coil is essentially a magnetic funnel, with lines of magnetic flux flowing through the central hole in one direction (for a given polarity). If you turn it end for end, you've altered nothing. All you've done is turn the "funnel" around its centre line.
