The magnet thing is the bit in the middle that gets fixed is it called a field winding, I pulled it out of the casing and reversed it and she still runs backwards

That's changed nothing. Think of a funnel, liquid flows through it in one direction. Your field coil is essentially a magnetic funnel, with lines of magnetic flux flowing through the central hole in one direction (for a given polarity). If you turn it end for end, you've altered nothing. All you've done is turn the "funnel" around its centre line. I hope that makes some sense.

Are you saying that if the motor is not rotating anti-clockwise, the spiral wrap around the inner steel wire of the flexible core will unwrap, jam in the outer, and destroy itself?

Wonder what the L,R is left right?

Could be "Left Rotation" - the motor only goes one way?

Thinking out loud here, perhaps it is possible to make a universal motor where the position of the brushes with respect to the field windings is "neutral" ( see "Motor Timing" ), and then "skew" the armature windings from the commutator bars so that it will only start anti-clockwise....?

After the "magnet reversing" test, did the field winding & polepiece assembly get put back into the motor casing the original way round?

Rather than an end-over-end lengthways swap, try rotating the field winding & polepiece assembly 180 degrees about the axis.

Alternatively, assemble the motor end-piece that holds the brushes without the bolts, and try rotating it up to 180 degrees about the axis, away from the original position, testing as you go.

The inner would unwind itself I'm guessing,if I could spin the inner motor 180deg I would but the brush housing would be at the wrong end, I didn't put the field winding back it's still at 180deg still spins backwards,somthink keeps telling me there's a easy fix cause the motor states on that plate F,R, it's got to be forward reverse?

The outer flex does have anti clockwise thred both ends

So if you were able to make the motor rotate clockwise, the drive end or the tool holder would unscrew itself from the flexible shaft?

I just spun a coke tin clockwise and the opposite force is anti clockwise so that would tighten the flex thred,,,,,I think lol

Somthink tells me I won't be porting the pinto cylinder head with it

I just had a brain wave, the photo of the winding shows x4 wires two black witch are the brown and blue freed and the other two are yellow ish which are the brush wires,what if I change it to two blacks go to the brushes and the two yellow go brown blue supply?

That,s the gearbox and front motor bearing the bearing requires the shaft and gear to be unscrewed from armature the handle stripped to replace bearings the motor rotates anti clockwise looking at the front.
Quite a strange design as the motor bearing has no seals at all so grease is thrown into motor housing.
That shaft is one that was on spare handle it is the same as the one on the machine thread i s normal RH thread

No, it is a series circuit, you would just be changing the direction of current flow through the two field windings.
