Most of the post WW2 Standard engines had alloy heads (I have a 1948 Standard 12 bitsa). They were a pain being prone to corroding solid to the studs and also rotting away in the water passages. Mine has about half a pack of ally tig rods in it.I think that is correct it is the same engine with a bit more power and an alloy head, a friend used the Mayflower engine in his dads standard 10 to get more power.
I ran a 1956 A35 as my daily for a few years (wife had the modern car) and even took it over to France several times for 1600 mile trips. Really miss that little car and regret selling for no reason other than had too many other vehicles. This A35 is owned by a friend it came to our little car meet last year, it is original and low milage with a webasto roof .View attachment 379727View attachment 379728

I scrapped my Mk1 Mexico and swapped all the mechanicals into a mk2 shell...... if only I had known!Oh you had to go and do that didn't you!
My Mk1 Mex, pictured shortly before I sold it in a fit of temper after the wife complained 'there's no room in the boot'.

She still hasn't been forgiven, and she knows it!
Difficult to 'Like' that! But oh yes, hindsight is most definitely 20/20!I scrapped my Mk1 Mexico and swapped all the mechanicals into a mk2 shell...... if only I had known!
Is that a Chrysler Sebring? I had one as rental car in Toronto for 4 weeks some years backWhilst scanning my old car pics to find the one of my Mex, I stumbled upon this one of me and my rental (the car not the plane, the plane I got for free!).
Hope it's not too gratuitous to post
