Probably why it only has 11k, spent most of its time at the workshop being fixed .
Current owner bought it at 5k so thats what it managed as a taxi
5k, 105k, 205k? Just saying!

Nothing sounds quite like a Marina boot being slammed shut..Long time ago, a friend worked for BL and was on a ferry to Portugal with a Marina to announce the model in that market. Well, they set off in iffy weather, which developed in a really severe storm. They were confined to cabins as many of the crew were injured, no food or service. Finally arrived in Lisbon. Some big earth moving gear had got loose on the car deck and many cars were dragged out in a rough state, he mentioned a Rolls that had a droop snoot, flattened to a wedge by an impact. Natch, the Marina came out in pristine condition... No justice..
A badly made shed of a thing, but reliable? Well yes I think they were, but took quite a bit of minor servicing though - not many things on them would bring you to a halt.when I was little my old man had a marina 1.3 deluxe coupe for quite a few years mustard colour with a black vinyl roof . Very reliable it was too , but they may be may be my rose tinted childhood glasses .
My brother had a Marina 1.8TC thing……I spent many hours sticking patches on it….hateful thing. Got a fresh MOT after much welding and brake pipes etc….usual stuff back then……..Nothing sounds quite like a Marina boot being slammed shut..
Sadly I've been looking out for a TC coupe version, so I can drop a Rover T16 in there to go rallying. Not so many about...
I had an old Marina van like that one, and I fitted a front grille from a saloon - really modernised the front end and made it look SO much better.
That was the standard mk1 marina 1.3 grill with the 'nose', the 1.8 had a horizontal bar across it to differentiate between the engine sizes.I had an old Marina van like that one, and I fitted a front grille from a saloon - really modernised the front end and made it look SO much better.

View attachment 456507The Mk2 had the grill like on the red estate. The square spotlights were a later upgrade.
Amazing coincidence, I searched online for a suitable picture of a 1.8 showing the distinctive grill, happens to be the exact car @badabec has linked above!.If all this Marina talk has whetted your appetite for grey porridge
Then you remember you'd left your keys inside the bootNothing sounds quite like a Marina boot being slammed shut..
The Avenger was another wet dream of the day…..Ive good memories of the one I had as a cheap tow car, only bought it as the tow bar was already fitted. Towed well, good memories of trips away towing the ski boat.Amazing coincidence, I searched online for a suitable picture of a 1.8 showing the distinctive grill, happens to be the exact car @badabec has linked above!.
All this talk of Marinas and Itals is bringing back a lot of happy memories as I said above my granny had a fleet of them in the 70s, buying a new one every 2 years, think she had 4 Marinas and 1 Ital, all 1.3s. At the same time my dad had 2, a 1.3 saloon and 1.8 estate. I know they are unfairly ridiculed now bug they were just everyday family cars no better and not much worse than the competition at the time.
I'd happily have one as a classic. (Save another one from Top gear's piano)
