Might just be your town as my sister worked in two of them whilst at college and made loads of friends and had the option of career progression

The manager did say that "if you work hard, and show enthusiasm, you could well be doing my job in a few years". It can't have been a hard job, considering what a slop hole the place was.

When the first Maccy D opened here in 1980 practically everyone I knew who didn't have a real job spent a couple of months working there, over the following years. None stuck it for long, but then they were the sort who never stuck at any job for long.

We have 3 MacDo's now, which is surprising for a fairly small town.

And to be honest, I don't mind a nice double cheeseburger and fries occasionally. Or a MacBreakfast.

If plastic is really seen as a problem then single use should be outlawed … but it’s seen as somebody else’s problem

thats never been the issue

whilst glass is better to recycle there was always the smashed bottles and the weight of them if you had to carry them

whilst plastic replaced the milk bottles and bottles it also carried a waste issue that really dosnt get recycled

it was always cheaper to dump it and nobody wants there council tax to go higher

They make terrible reefs, hundreds of millions of years of evolution hasn't made coral good at growing on discarded tyres that have existed for less than a century.

I don't celebrate anything as it all comes with waste. Took me a decade of arguments to stop my family buying me cards and presents, I think it took ignoring mother's day to do it!

It would appear almost everything produced is intended to be waste as soon as possible to ensure we buy more, through planned obsolescence, designed to fail, fashion, etc... Entire lives wasted producing nothing of value.

When i was a D&T technician in a secondary school & helped the teacher put up new displays in the workshop, REUSE, RECYCLE, REPAIR, etc She did lessons on it & was passionate about the subject, some of the kids grasped the concept, most it went in one ear & out the other.
Just the other side of the workshop wall was the school canteen designed by architects as a cutting edge example of how a modern school should be, the design of the school won awards.
Yet the capacity of the canteen was one third of the number of pupils never mind the staff.
The school ran a short action packed day with just 20 minutes for lunch, this meant an insane rush for meals & most kids ate from vending machines that dispensed plastic pots of pasta & fast food.
Then 75% of them ate standing up In the "street" (the main corridor) in stair wells, wherever they could.
As you can imaging most of their waste went straight on the floor.
It should start at home but when kids do this at school as well you have no chance.

I would have thought that given time they would be encrusted with barnacles which would then be covered in coral.

I notice this "cost of living crisis", cheaper brands have stayed cheap, often made by/in the same factory. The big name brands are the ones putting the price up, and its not essential things but mostly snack food and rubbish.

I have but it was a long time ago, perhaps it has changed. I quite like a flask of coffee, decent flask keeps it burning hot well over 12hours.
Went in there a few years back, the chicken and burgers are certainally more suspicious than I remember... It is not a place Id go for food!

Depends what you order, Starbucks is spot on.

Is it overpriced? That is matter of perspective, as a treat it is reasonable and those who drink daily might not buy something else instead

Pickup trucks and lorries are responsible for a fair amount of litter roadside, forever seeing stuff being blown out of the back of smaller trucks. The other day I was behind a lorry that was losing streams of plastic sheeting his load was wrapped in. May be time for compulsory cargo nets.

The heavy paper bags you see in American shops seems the obvious answer I don’t know why the Uk doesn’t use them. I agree completely about plastic wrapped fruit and veg.
