And I did buy a pair of Makita guide rail clamps I found cheap, they are supposed to be a straight fit on the Scheppach guide rail. They did require a quick lick with a file tho to make them fit

Looking great, I went for a cheap jig off eBay for the holes which is so far doing me proud the accuracy is bang on. Drilling all the holes is very tedious and dust extraction is very handy it makes a right mess.

Made my bench by welding up some angle:

The aldi one is compatible with the scheppach only - I haven't been able to find another compatible type.

The festool is supposedly compatible with several other makes - makita and erbauer, possibly others

And dewalt. Have yellow and green here.
Want some dewalt tracks too. They have two cutting edges when you have 2.8m tracks in a small room it saves turning it.

I have a 3mm stroke random orbital, probably over 18years old now, bearings I suspect in the eccentric actuator, but that is the first thing, still with the original lead (permantely fixed version). I also have an ATF 55 plunge cut saw, which I predominantly use for cutting alli plate with it's rail. The saw motor spindle now moves into the motor when I press the triger to run. Still goes but will need some looking at, mite get it's newer cousin so I can pull the old saw apart for repairs

Something else I noticed today, the splinter guard doesn't sit on the wood unless you press down on the edge, is this right?

Peter Millard recommends replacing the splinter guards as they don't do the job as you describe, he mentions some stick on rubber edging in one of his videos.

The track and clamps isn't a bad price on Ebay, I will keep looking around as I could do with longer track to finish my racking project

If anybody is using a Festool domino after cutting their sheets up, then I would recommend a Domiplate, especially if your building stuff out of 18mm sheets. 50 quid plus US postage makes them expensive for what the are, but they make things so much easier. As the Domino comes as standard, it has no 18mm depth setting so the domino is inserted off centre in the sheet. Can be a PITA, especially if you are joining stuff at 90 degrees and you get the sheet upside down before making the cut.

I just made one. A piece of 10mm ali plate, a slot, 3 holes and take a millimetre off the part that joins up with the machine. The cutter cuts at 10mm from edge of the tool so taking this mm off pushed the fence over 1mm so the cut is bang on the centre of an 18mm sheet. I've got 20+ cabinets to make out of 18mm sheet so worth doing.

I need to tidy up the edges but I have just tested it and it works fine. Milled the slot, then I used that to bolt down the sheet while I milled 1mm off the section that mates with the machine.

Not much to it, you now use the machine upside down but doesn't take long to get used to it.

Much more stable than plastic festool guard that use the same mounting holes, you can see the festool guard on the right below. That one does not compensate for the off centre slots. The slot is so you can see the centre line etched into the base of the machine. I'll but some black ink it so it shows up better.

Bang on the centre of the board thickness, should make my life much easier. Took about an hour to make.

if a domino doesnt have a setting for 3/4", I'm even more amazed...

Totally agree plus the theft insurance whilst under warranty. Got into the green stuff after I was cleaned out of all my Powertools for the 3rd time prior to that had dewalt/Bosch/makita.

They are good quality but not really special inside and do go wrong on occasion- the aftersales backup is amazing. The design and features make them stand out for me they are very nice to use. Once you’ve got the battery system the bare bones kit when on sale is not that bad.

I do miss my ts55 the dewalt has more guts but not as nice to use on laminates.
It's still working but started smelling of hot wiring in the heat of summer.had a busy week for it the following week so went and bought the dewalt.
Don't get me wrong the dewalts more than capable just little touches like height adjust not being squeeze and set or non captive bolts for angle adjust etc. once fixed il keep the fes for fine work and the dewalt for jobs that need more guts.
Struggled to trim a firedoor in one hit with the fes.

Re the domino that’s the one thing that’s bugged me. As soon as I get either a mill or 3D printer I want to make a replacement step part with bespoke settings for my common sheet goods one of which will include the correct height for 18mm!

Unfortunately it doesn't, its all in mm and it goes 16, 20, 22 etc.

I had a look at one of these earlier in the week at my local store, it was £49, but had been opened which put me off thinking to wait for the Rutlands one to be on offer. I kept thinking about one so dropped in at another store on my way home tonight. There was 2, labelled at £49 both good boxes so I took one to the till. I was asked for £19.99. Took it to the motor, checked the receipt, yes £19.99. Went back in for the other one....
