In Project Binky they have used all the Toyota four wheel drive system hence the engine and associated problems. I like the way they are trying to keep everything within the standard Mini bodywork without bulges etc other than the arches. Reminds me of the Scalextric Mini’s.
Maybe, but for me there is an ROI and retaining the spirit of the car.
If you essentially end up with another cars running gear, engine, box and suspension shortened, whether you section the floorpan and drop another body on top or fit that into the car you basically have a different car dressed up. Not the essence of an improved car, which I think misses the point. Potentially whatever is iconic about the silhouette is gone.
I would totally agree if they were doing a restoration of a Mini with some improvements but they aren't and I don't see how fitting an Ecotec would be that much different.
Each to his own, it's their car and thy can do what they want with it. I do chuckle at their continual comments about people not needing SUVs because last time I checked I'm pretty sure nobody needs an 80s Mini with 200hp and 4WD.

Not sure about those clips though, if they don't all slide the same way so you can take the panels off what's the point of using that type ?

^^^^its the same as normal car panels there pop ones that you use a tool to put in between and just like plyers but work the other way opens when you squease the handles the jaws opens bit like cerclip removers
Another cracking episode from the boys.
I love that they just happen to know about a certain model Nissan Micra door moulding they can use to finish off their door. I wouldn't be surprised if they had that Micra moulding in mind when they were cramming the components in the door to begin with. That level of fore-thinking is seriously impresive.
As always the attention to detail is superb.
