Started the rear lower corner. Tricky as it's quite rusty, been patched over and there is loads of shape to try and get right. Got the side bit nice and working on the rear bit, need to shrink it around a lot to get the shape, hopefully I'll get it.

They are indeed, I made the mistake of removing the small magnet from the larger holder - very difficult to pick them off the work-piece.....

in some of your pics, I look at them and think, "good god, now what?"....then you shape a new piece and pop it in...easy peasy....well, probably not so easy!

Thanks. The same thought goes through my head. Just try and work out how it is supposed to go together and a I have wee plan for each bit. It's much more rusty than I thought but slowly getting there.

What I have found on my resto is that getting a good seamless fix takes 5 times as long as a quick and dirty fix. Hence my progress is very slow, good job I don't have a deadline or am doing this as a paid job.

Started the repair under the rear taillight. The old area was bodged, plated over and filled with filler so wasn't sure how it went. I thought it curved around at the bottom from about half way so that is how I made it and was tricky, but it's not right. A Google tonight shows the bottom is straight and just has a twist in the panel rather than a curve and a twist like I made it. The way I made it makes the left side stick out more rather than slope away. Anyway some pics of how I made it but will have another try tomorrow.

Remade the repair this afternoon then gave the workshop a good clean. The repair turned out nice and was much simpler to make this way. Folded up the sides, left tapered out 2mm to allow for the 2mm it comes back in when angled backwards. Then put the shape in on my sand bag, bent the angle on my dolly and welded the bottom flange on to make it easier to make but also to get a really square corner. Very pleased now and looks much better.

Had a wee bit of time on the car, cutting out the rusty bits, making new bits and finally started welding in new bits. Had to work out how it was made as it was very rusty and had been bodge repaired previously. Hoping to get some time.in Sunday to finish off this section.
