Sherman Tig (Jasic in disguise?)

So technically I could order any aftermarket torch (Looking at CK) + 35/50 dinse connector, decapitate the original torch to get the 10 mm gas fitting (Or look for a new one) and put it on the adaptor?
This might be a real stupid question, but is there a way to know what connection does this torch has? (Cannot find it mentioned and from what I've found, there are two standards for these dinse connectors)

If it's the 35/50 one, then the gas fitting + plug for the button would be all I assume

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed and the amount of different variables does not help.

It's a 35/50, I'd be tempted to swap the M10 gas to a rectus.

On the machine, you mean? I think I saw someone who had a 10mm for the welder side and quick release connector on the other side. That would work for me definitely as welder would more then likely be stationary or on a cart.

Yup, that's what I'm planning on doing.

Use the supplied M10 female to 6mm hose, short length of 6mm hose and then to whatever fittings once I've decided what fittings to go for - either PCL or Rectus 21.

The Sherman torch is ok, obviously built down to a price, and being a 26 is a bit bulky. I bought a cheap wp17 from Zoro (about £28 I think, so cheaper than a torch body on its own from many other suppliers) along with connectors from eBay. You’ll find a wiring diagram in the Jasic manual, or probably somewhere in this thread! You only need two wires to connect the switch on the torch, and I imagine there are only two wires fitted on the Sherman torch supplied (I haven’t looked)

As per someone else earlier on in the thread, I've ordered an M10x1 female to 1/4 BSP male bush which'll let me put a 1/4 Rectus 21 female on the machine. Couldn't find any UK stock though, ordered from eBay/Aliexpress

M10x1 is common in brake hydraulics and fuel pumps. I have gone to hydraulic stores to get fittings for welders before, just an idea

Thanks for the advice on fittings. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. I work in somewhat industrial area where hydraulic fittings should not be an issue to find. During the two / three days I spent reading this thread, I checked all the local stores online and found that this particular Sherman costs 570 - 599 eur, pretty much everywhere. If I do decide to get a torch replacement and a button, and the fittings - it will add up to ~850 eur. Interestingly, at one of the stores I found Jasic for 845 eur.
I know this question derails the whole topic of this thread, and I apologize for that, but essentially - is it worth it for this price?
From what I understand, lucky are those, who got it for 450, but seems that that has passed.

@Pigeon No9 I think this comes down to what sort of torch you're after and whether the bundled jasic one meets your needs (or more accurately, is comparable to the eur250-300 torch/fitting package / premium you're considering)

Like @Newlands I got a Kennedy torch (two in fact!) from Zoro and fittings for far less than EUR 250-300, which I think is a big improvement on the Sherman one (the button being its big downfall).

Might seem conservative but I am hesitant about ordering it from somewhere non-local. Knowing my luck, I will have to return it at least once for repairs.

I can appreciate your reservations; I think all of us from the UK bought them knowing the implication of not having any local or national support.

I was thinking of a something smaller than the 26 one, which is included. Consequently, if the one on Jasic is good enough, I'd be willing to wait before upgrading, so total price of Jasic with stock torch would make more sense than Sherman + torch which adds up.

I understand that. For me the additional 50 eur for local support and easy to get warranty is worth it. Also, the warranty periods here are determined by government and everything gets 2 years, unless the retailer or manufacturer decides to prolong that, (Rarely happens). So the Jasic 5 years vs the Sherman's 1 year is not really an argument for me as it is for you guys.

Fully understood. I think the price differential (i.e. vs a GBP 1500-1600 price for the Jasic here!) makes the comparison and decision a lot closer for you!

The Kennedy torches are the tube hand grips with a clip on switch - I think that's similar to the CK design and I like them! They're also cheap enough with a flex head.

The Sherman torch is obviously pretty similar head wise (but fixed and WP26 as you say), but has a moulded body and integrated switch. The ones that are branded SIP appear to be pretty similar, and suffer from having a not-very-definite button.

I'm afraid I'm not sure what the supplied torch for the Jasic is as different sites seem to show different torches. The Jasic UK site has a very similar body but with a rubberised button which I imagine is better!!

I think as you say, if you've a local shop where you can get the Jasic for a 300 euro premium - while I don't think that represents value for the torch*, that is almost certainly worth it if you can call in a local shop (to play with the torch for starters!) and for the additional 3 years' warranty!
(Sherman is 2 years warranty here too for non commercial use)

* - simply as I would guess you may pick up different (size and make) torches during the life of the machine.

I like the tube design (as far as I can imagine, since I've never held one in real life) as it seems to have no preferred way of holding, whereas the Sherman and seemingly, the Jasic also, have the directional grip naturally molded into them. In addition to this being fixed head, I assume this can get awkward quick.
I'm the kind of person, who easily justifies spending more on something that will last, but twice the cost of Sherman I cannot justify currently. So to summarize, if Jasic torch is only marginally better, then I guess Sherman with nice aftermarket makes sense. Will maybe try to get hold of one, but that in my case, unfortunately does not give much, as I am currently clueless of what to look out for.

Yes, especially if you are planning on using a foot pedal that would make perfect sense - you would not be reliant on the switch on torch.

From what I see, the Sherman does not come with a pedal in our market, but that I could either order or make it myself probably. as of now, I'm just putting my internal struggles online.

Thanks to anyone who helped. Hopefully I'll make a wise decision. Afterwards, I bet you'll see a lot of "why does my weld look like dog p0o?" questions from me.

If you have never used of held a tig torch I would say give the standard one a shot first.
I was in the same boat and thought was a bit awkward, but think that's part down to my inexperience, I still havnt changed it and its doing fine, just got used to it

Even though I have jumped the gun with some things, I think I will do just that - try the included one. Reason why I'm asking this prior is because it's something I have to include when calculating the costs. If I do have to buy another torch down the line, I better have it coming, rather than it being a surprise.
Granted, I will suck with any torch at the moment but that haven't stopped me before
