Is anyone familiar with a 'Schmidt Improved Vice'? There is one entered in tonight's auction, it's in great condition apart from a missing jaw insert. It will probably go cheap because it's rusty, not a record nor painted record blue!
The only reference I can find is this patent.

It looks very similar to this vice, the movement on it feels very smooth & tight, very like a machine vice. Patent is from 1893 so the vice could be very old.
