Picked up these 3 vices in a box of contents at an auction.

The big vice is a 4" generic swivel vice, probably Chinese made.

A small clamp on vice, no markings apart from 'British made'.

My favourite item, a clamp on miniature leg vice, around 100mm high with a tiny anvil on the back.

Also in the box were 2 vintage f-clamps.

A 200mm diepaca, well made & from the little info I can get from google they were a German brand.

A 6" stabil F clamp, don't know about their clamps but their spirit levels are top quality.

And out of all the vices & clamps guess which one doesn't work? Yep, the newest one, the 4" Chinese vice! The threads have stripped on the nut, which is a pity as it was going back into next weeks auction!

Gave it a lick of paint. Not ideal on the colour but it’s all I had.

I've never heard of Stabil, the levels are Stabila aren't they?

Its a 3" Abwood if I'm correct ? These are of a superb quality and just perfect for a small Mill, or even a drill press; a great find indeed !

It’s got 4” wide jaws on it. It was 26 quid off eBay but the postage was 25. It’s in really good condition. Just needs a handle. It will be living on this.

MT2. Fobco did do a MT3 version but are a bit rarer.

I'm surprised, looks a fair sized drill to be an MT2. Bet it's lovely to use

Thats excellent, I know technically this sort of shot can always be better but you have just captured the moment, have you tried editing it to Sepia or black and white?

Cheers guys, yeah it would make a great mono @winchman the old chaps do work hard, my old man is struggling these days but at 85 he don't do bad (mind you I did have to dive into the lake and get him and his mobility scooter out a month back!!!), I always think of this thread when I see them bashing the old vise to death, that vise has been there since I was born some 45+ years ago! I've stuck so much mig wire to it over the years - its been to hedgehog and back a dozen times!!! She's sporting a half inch extension bar with a socket welded on the end for a handle and is as loose as a wizards sleeve but still holds the odd starter or two haha...

The old workshop could tell a few tales!!

That's a brilliant photo. As Winchman said you've just caught the moment spot on.

Get it printed properly, frame it and give him it as a Christmas present

Here you are, a few more images of the odd vice or two left here and there around our yard, and a couple more of the workshop, my old man fixing starters and alternators and so on.. Hope the not so on topic shots are ok..

The dark nights and cold wind all added up too a long day today thats for sure!
