From this.
Yes It had a lot of original details on it. The sticker being one.
But it didn't work right and it would not fully open.
So.

Striped down and cleaned.
The main reason the vice was not working correctly was due to the bolt holding the threaded part for the adjusting screw was broken.

Here it is being removed, well attempting to be. I had to drill it out in the end. But I had enough thread to identify it as UNF.

In Paint, in this weather it takes a few days for the rattle can paint to fully dry.
Note to self. Must acquire another small oven.

Gold leaf attempt. from a few feet away it looks good. But up close it shows up the poor casting of the writing. Next time I may spend time with the dremmel cleaning and making sure the writing stands out.

There all done.
Fully working, it has a new home to go to.
Nice collection .
I had a small hole similar to yours in the casting of one of my vices. T repair it, I hammered a small piece of lead into the hole and smoothed it flat with a file before painting; an easy fix.
Ok thanks, I intended to leve it as is it is used a lot, very handy for smal stuff. The hole shown on the unpainted vice in photo 7.

Dieselkid 63 thank you
It was painted purposely like that, you can see on the Record 35 I did it correctly, I did not like to grind the scares off so I just painted the whole thing.
I see on yours that the colour is not far out. I had this decal made just for fun, like you said it will come of quickly, yours is what 6 inces?
Those vices are rear sight in Iceland, its the only one I seen my self.
View attachment 164004 Here is my Woden 186, found at a house clearance yard, bought with other stuff for £5. Just cleaned, greased and oiled. It'll go in the jaws of a larger vice for working on fiddly bits.
Why not bolt it to a plate and weld a bar on to make a T shape? Much easier to hold in the vice, plus you aren’t exerting pressure on the castings, which can chip/crack. These were just grey iron after all.
