I have one of this type of vice on the benchWoden 180 No1 pipe vice. Feels a bit rattly... needs a proper going over but not broken and will be a nice addition to the Woden family I’m building

Nice, and " I do like fine tools ", but oh my, for $640.00 one would at least expect radiused corners on the outside face of it to prevent nasty cuts. Not only that, the shaft being aluminum is inevitably going to get nicks in it, so there goes your dust seal, and when oxidation will take place, there goes your shiny finish. I've had aluminium vices, and still have one somewhere in my storage unit, but personally, I don't think this posh one would stand the real world test of time like Record wood vices for example, which like my 53E are obviously stronger and have a much more useful capacity; and if the jaws were chrome plated, would look just as nice in a preppy wood shop.

I can see it’s merits, the lack of quick release is what bugs me. I’ve not got time to go wheeling the handle around all day!
Agreed, the 53E (I have the A, its predecessor) is a powerful beast. I actually recently got a 52A, a matching pair.

They are good vices, I've two, one in very good condition the other is a wreck though still usable. The 74 and 75 were always painted red. Though it's your vice, you paint it sky blue pink if it makes you happy.

I was pleased to finally get my hands on a Record 114 in original paint recently after owning 3 112's previously until I came across ( and missed in my ignorance) a Record 634 being literally given away in Scotland this week on Gumtree.
After reading up on them including the one Screwdriver had on this site I'd like to own one. No doubt from the hundreds produced they rarely come up for sale?!!.

That looks like a real minter, a very nice find!
As regards the 634, buy it if you can or let someone on here know about it. They are quite rare & worth buying. Probably a bit big for most people to use but to a collector they are gold dust.

Anvil collecting! And I though vice collecting was expensive! I think I have around 12 vices, how many anvils have you?
I would suggest you start a post showing your collection with pics, there are a lot of anvil enthusiasts here!

I only have 5 anvils at the moment 4 different styles which I'm keeping and a 1 1/2cwt Brooks that I bought last week locally that I will use as a swap for something interesting.
I have bought more than 120 anvils over the last 10 years usually the biggest and heaviest I could get most of which finished up in the USA via my American friend Steve Prillwitz
The downside of collecting the largest anvils is torn rotator cuffs in both shoulders so I try to stick to a 2cwt/102kg max now!
Here's two pictures of me and Steve in my garage a few years back
