I've just bought the Record 634s baby brother a 631 along with a Polish Buffalo swivel vice and a Sawyer Tool Co USA vice. They've already made their way into the house!.

Definitely good vices. Bison-Bial make quite a range. Also make lathe chucks, amongst other things, if I recall

In case anyone here is interested ? I just spotted what appears to be a 4" Swindens Vice on the bay, and its just listed as "Bench Vice".

got a clarke bench vice a few years ago, and the jaws were slightly out of true, it still works well enough for me, but it was annoying me, so today I decided to sort it out, by milling the the face that the vice jaw goes against, so the rear face was roughly clocked up.

and then trueing up both jaw faces

now its much nicer to use

Another for the collection. I've never seen a bolt together Woden. Does anyone have any idea of date?

They're early. Parkinson had a similar design on their first vices. Late Victorian to early 1900's is my best guess.

I'd have thought the same Matt, but I don't think they started making vices until the 20s. I can't find and Woden image with this styling.
