In the UK I find both "Men in sheds" and "Men's shed" - I assume there is a difference .... Internationally I can only find the latter.

From what I've understood so far, I think that's great - the idea of trying something like that here in southwest Germany, where I live now, makes me grin and shake my head - never.

Maybe in the north, where I come from, but even there only in bigger cities.

Great cause, worth supporting!

Just interested to know if anyone has purchased new jaw plates from “vice works” in the uk?

15 minutes away from home. Got there and quick release works, great! But the screw won't engage. Offered a price I thought fair, he accepted.

This was last week. Only just got it out of the car, and clearly underneath lies the problem. No bolt holding in the bracket for the QR bar, so the nut won't engage. I'm thinking it must have sheared, but no, just missing.

Should be an easy fix now.

But it is also missing a jaw, again, simple to make up a new mild steel one. I am thinking I could do with one of these vices to have copper jaws. Any suggestion as to where to get 12mm copper bar?

Here it is next to my other 6" vice, the Record no 6.

that 25 is a beast, i have a 23 and thats hard enough to move

newly acquired looks german dovetail design clockmakers vice im picking
no markings except "65" stamped on front face and on the bar keep
also stamped on the front knob "1882 97"
if it is a date stamp, made in 1882 this is miy oldest vice by a long long long way
would anyone know of these markings and possibly who made it

no way of knowing really as apparently there were many copies, but looks very much like one, many features match exactly. Not sure if Boley produced vices without their name on?

Not sure who made these, they’re nice aren’t they? I did one ages ago. All I could find was a mention in the B&H book, they’re English.

Also stay away from that seller with the 75 on TM, a total ‘see you next Tuesday’.

Record 52A vice done!

Proper nice model and very hard to find as the A model - you get the screw cover with this one. Left as primer in places where it was only primer - proper red oxide, then enamel blue on the rest. I enjoyed working on this one
