Where do you find stuff like that? I've trawled through webs sites, auction sites, car boots and yard sales and rarely find anything like this. Do I need to join a secret society or become religious? In fact I've run so low on rusty projects that I am in danger of having to decorate the kitchen!

The ball base Park'ee is a keeper for me. Mounted on the corner of a tool cabinet, I find it just perfect for smaller work. The Swinden's Is another keeper, which I mounted on a height adjustable steel table I was fortunate to acquire.

At the moment I don't have another bench or a place to put it, but will eventually fabricate one and mount my Record Auto-Vice and perhaps another one on. Four should more than satisfy any future needs. As for the rest, I really need to downsize.

I have the opposite problem. Too much junk. But I need to do the kitchen too.

Loving that Bridgeport cabinet.

It was awhile ago, but I think I posted about it on the "Today I Acquired........" thread ? The guy I bought it off of said he was going to get about half a dozen more, as the Company was going to invest in different tooling. I called him back a couple of times, but for some reason he didn't get them. I occasionally see one on ebay. Its a very well made cabinet with adjustable height swing out shelves, and well worth searching for. Here's some photos I've kept before I loaded it up. If you do have a chance to acquire one, make sure it has the bent bar to reposition the shelves; you can see it at the top on the right hand door.

The type 82 was better.

The dear old Bristol, only just been towed up the trot. Spent a lot of time on her, at least one major refit in 84 then later replaced the the 4.5 after storm damage. The lub on the 42 was Neox as far as I remember, stank to high heaven.

The big fire was a little before my time, but she was certainly jinxed. She was used as a harbour training vessel up to last year and there was a move to save her as a museum ship, though I don't believe it came to anything. Spent weeks on nights on her flushing the gearboxes and getting covered in warm oil for my trouble.

Thanks for the offer Mat but my days of packing stern gland are long gone. It had been one of those jobs that I could do quickly and always seemed to get when a 42 needed it done.

He really needs to put little diagrams in the corner like in children’s books about dinosaurs showing how big things are next to a person!

I thought his Blanchard looked like a nice little machine until I realised you can sit inside it!

6.5" jaws. Manual not QR.
Weighs 52KG.
It’s too big for my resto projects.
Bought from a guy who inherited it from his father and after a back injury had to sell all his dads old workshop equipt as he could not stand for long anymore.
Good condition just old and loved. Largest vice I’ve ever seen.
I paid £40 for it and spent just over £10 on fuel to collect from Lancs.
So £50 and I'd let it go to a good home... If you want pix let me know.

Hello, and Welcome to the forum. By the upswept tail on the main frame of the vice, it would appear to be a Record; but I'm not sure ?
I'm confident someone will soon be along with a more detailed answer.
