If I only knew it would be a mega find in the future, I would have bought dozens of these when I bought this one brand new back in the mid 1970's.she's abit quiet boys on the "i just acquired another vice" front
3 main reasons from down under
1 its getting cold, grey and windy
2 people want way to much for their grandads relics
3 ive gone on a tangent getting me some prized bench grinders/pollishers to adorn the workshop, havent quiet found the mega find yet, but always looking

I think you would agree, it is a perfectly sharpened pencil.I do wish you'd stop showing of !
Is there a bench grinder thread?
That's only a 3rd of it. I have 9m of bench in a U shape around the end 1/3rd of my workshop.I wish that I had that much bench space.
It's better than a collection of vices--SNIP--
Never thought I'd end up with a vice collection!

Good to see you addressing oral hygiene in the workshop, having your toothbrushes close to handHey guys.. so i've not been on here lately.. LOL, I came on here to post about my new vice and looks like i'm not the only one who likes a bit of vice action..
I just bought this 6.5" Ductile Iron vice from Jefferson tools.. I had been meaning to buy one for a while and came across this one in a local store, it was the biggest I had seen for sale in person so I went with it.
Admittedly, I bought it on first sight.. it seemed to have good features:
* Wide opening and a nice bit of depth between the pads and slider below
* Pipe vice fitting
* Nice size anvil
* Swivel - on the fence about this, but it does mean I can mount it a bit closer to wall now.
* Heavy looking construction that looks like it would take a beating
I only realised afterwards that it is Ductile Iron, is that good - seems like only the big boys in the Jefferson range are made of this.
Would the swivel be a deal breaker for you - some people say no way, but looking underneath at the toothed construction, I reckon it will take a bit hammer to knock it out.
I'm still pretty wary about the price of €350 and still recovering.. but it seems like a decent lump that should last a while and put up with a lot? .. or should would you return it?
