Although my vice knowledge isn't up to scratch I do adopt a method so not to come unstuck with remembering how things go back together. I just line things up in order of dismantle. Bolts are threaded back into the holes the come from, marks are applied if something needs to be put back in exact same position etc.Can I have some help please?
When I dismantled my Record No 35 I forgot to take pictures, Now I'm not sure how this goes together.
It's the spring & washers off the screw. I think the large washer sits against the thread, then the spring, small washer & pin. Could someone kindly look under their vice & let me know what order they fit.

There is a latch that locks the pivoting jaw in place. Under that latch there is a spring but it is too far away to work. I'm guessing there should be a plunger that sits between the spring & latch but it's missing on my vice. Could you please confirm this & if you are feeling really generous could you please remove & measure it so I can make one in the lathe.
Aye, photo's aren't a foolproof method. More just reference. There always ends up being some working out or remembering to do too. I take so many photo's due to a lot of the stuff having to be parted completely for cleaning/derusting etc., and some of the bits may be apart a good while before they're reassembled. There's always at least one "where does that go" session still though. Those bits usually wait until everything else is replaced and then look for the empty holes or spaces, else count the number of and find any possibilities with a matching number of spaces. That basket of screws, bolts, collars & taper pins etc. which I posted in the electrolysis is thread is a good example of where photo's come in handy. There's still going to be a lot of figuring out to do with those though, as that machine was a pile of bits when I got it, so I've only personally disassembled half of that. The rest I'll have to work out as I'm reassembling.
I assumed that the No 111 I have was the same design so I could copy that but the 111 has no spring at all!
It's actually a Yost Vise, it says The G.M.Yost manufacturing company on it. Yost are still about I believe.
