not much to look at, but a welcome retreat for me.
Garage number 1
and.. acquired only yesterday.. garage number 2!
These little garages were once canal workers cottages for the people that worked on the glamorganshire canal.. after spending a good few years empty and overgrown, they were taken over by a small dairy company, this is where they kept the milk floats.
Now the whole run of 20 or so garages is owned by a mate of mine who is a tree surgeon and sculptor, the whole yard is fenced off and has locked gates.. its really nice to spend time there and bump into the other folk that have lock ups there for their hobbies.

Here is our workshop. I also have a small single garage as well where I keep my restoaration project. As you can see it's very cluttered due to it being the temporary storage for some stuff from my dad's old factory clearout.
This is the general view of the workshop (boiler room)
This is our oxy/acetylene setup, bottles from energas. Stand is a Machine Mart one. That blue piece of metal you can see behind the bottles is a Colchester Bantam lathe (fully operational).
This is my dad's SIP Migmate Super, running on a 'midi' bottle of Co2/Argon Mix:
And this is my setup - a Snap-On Snap-Mig 130 Turbo which I use for car restoration:

Aye its not a bad little welder, although the torch is knackered at the moment. The brass valve behind the trigger has stuck so I'm going to have to take the torch apart.
I would be too embarrassed to piccy my s...t tip, its a fully working small machine shop partitioned off to heat up quicker and keep the noise down.
Scrapped a Myford ML7 and replaced with a Harrison 140 8 years ago, a lot of stuff is still outside rotting away.

Moving in...
Hi,
Spent the weekend starting to move in to my new workshop - so it's not so tidy any more
The photo also features my first welding project in the place: the black frame with bars. While moving in I suddenly realised how much nickable stuff will be in there, so knocked up those bars for the window.
Just in case anyone thinks: "They look a bit thin, I'll whip round to Wilk's place with a hacksaw and nick all his stuff", the bars are actually special Chromo-Tungstoid Uber-Steel which makes grinder wheels explode with lethal effect and can only be plasma cut using radioactive Krypton gas.

Ive been tidying up, and all my original pics are broke I think.
Now if I can only find floorpaint that stands coolant for longer than two weeks Ill be sorted. Ive been trying to suggest we retile the house so I can have the old tiles to do my workshop in
Still got to paint the walls in places though...
And lots of things that arent green enough...
Still lots of places to tidy too. Quick shut the hatch...

MrFluffy, is that a GPz750 turbo sitting there? Those are worth a bunch these days.
I have two 82/83 GPz550's here. One i bought in '84, still in crate, second is parts bike that is being restored. Great bikes, fun, fast and reliable.

Fluffy cant beat the old English stuff lathe, mill and drill. Far more robust than the new ****** items.
The floor will become slippy if tiled or painted and not cleaned every minute. The coolant disperses through the concrete floor better

Does me for the majority of what i do Harrison 140 with smallest chuck i can get on 5 1/4" fully tooled. White/grey ****** miller with 8" rotary table, 5" vice, full DRO, power feeds. Bead blaster and 3hp 45 ltr compressor hidden, its noisy.
The swarf by the door is only 8 mins worth and had a decent sweep up with shovel before.

I already hoover my machines free of swarf after theyre done for the day after giving them the dustpan and brush for the big bits, tiled I can mop the floor too
I find if you leave bare concrete and spill coolant on it a few months, you can't get paint to take on it anyway even after a good brush down with acetone...
Shenion, yep, I got 3 of them (indeed Im one of the moderators on 750turbo.com's forums), that one, one lurking in the back of the shot and one Im building with fireblade/gsxr running gear out of the "scrap" pile, but theyre not really worth that much. The bike parked next to it painted camo is a another italian in my life, a bimota yb8e with a factory tuned yamaha 1000cc exup motor, probably worth 3 times what you would give for a tidy turbo. The turbo's impressive in a straight line, even more so with a 810 kit and big turbo, but the bimota is just mind numbingly fast all round...
Finding a good lathe and mill is a right pain unless you pay through the nose or are lucky.
Dropped lucky on a 10" pedestal polisher other side of partition, with table saws, decent tile cutter, compound saw, cabinet and toolboxes for the car stuff.
What used to turn me off doing anything at all was when its cold, it warms up fairly quick as it only 14 x 8ft insulated etc, in fact i go in for a warm now.
Looked like an Adcock and Shipley at first or similar universal, but the lights in the way, looks well made and robust.
Might be a bit overkill if i laid star galaxy floor tiles down.
Need a decent welder now so i can rearrange the layout.
