I have two workshops the old one which i set up years ago was a couple of small stables which I knocked into one. I'm still in the process of moving into the second garage which is a little bit bigger

At the moment I'm just getting the wiring sorted out which isn't that big a job because there is a very heavy cable running down the back wall on the right-hand side which goes out to a old milking parlour

It will all be needed soon I've got a 14 ft. tipper trailer to go in there next week to do the carts and rails the 4 side carts are all ready made up and lying again the back wall I'll take a few picked when I get the chance and stick them in the project section

I would suffer less floorspace for some of Peterd51 kit

Shhhhhh don't tell anyone but if we get the farmhouse we're looking at then I'll get a 38' x 31' stone barn to play in, all mine, with the possibility of building an office/den up over the stables on one side below which will be the workshop area and the otherside will be cleared out for cars. Tis tall enough to put a four post lift in too.......

That sounds good Lippyp, you can certainly do alot with that kind of space. I am living on a farm. The cottage i stay in is the blue arrow and to the right is the farm where i am setting up a workshop.

Im lucky enough to have the out of hours use of the workshops at work for my own odds.
Plenty of space, and pretty well equiped. Wozzah will vouch for that


But moving next month.... into a house with a garage.

Definitely! Some pretty impressive kit at Hitches place including a pressbrake that will bend (if I remember correctly?) 40mm steel plate! And a plethora of migs, tigs, saws and other droolworthy stuff .
Just out of interest Hitch, if I wanted some polished stainless tube bent do you have the kit to do it? Could be 50 or 60mm(ish)

This is where we're hoping to buy (yep, all of it) including 7 1/2 acres of land. The barn is the bit with the different roof (its corrugated tin as a previous owner flogged the original sandstone roofing slates)

40mm but not full width of the machine, it was only about 1metre wide, done to 45degrees.
With a bigger bottom tool, its probably got enough power to do it 90deg

When you say bent....angle, radius....?

I'd gather its fairly thin walled stuff?

We have a tube bender, but does quite a large radi. Never even tried it on Stainless though tbh. 48mm formers i think.
Or large radius bending/rolling.

Weld bends is the way forward mate
Got some 355mm o/d stainless bends in at the moment, any good

hehe, maybe a little big for a sports bar for my truck . That's what I've got in mind so yes, it would be thin-walled, bent to about 80 degs and I reckon 70-80mm radius. They're so bloody expensive, I fancy having a go at making one.

Its a shame you're so far away as I have a bloody great big stainless roll bar I took of my chevy that is surplus to requirements. I'm sure it could be cut and shut to fit most things. I took it off as it was the wrong shape and didn't match the curves of the cab and it stuck up about six inches over the top too. IMO the truck looks better without it as its a 2wd and roll over bars are a bit too 4x4 Its 3" tube too.
