Simple Tig Cooler

I did get the black oxide off the heat tint did not want to budge with the scotch brite.

Will add some stainless brushes to my never ending shopping list. I think i've found some pickling paste for €20. What type of brush/gloves do i need to handle this stuff?

Thanks i saw that they even sell specific brushes for it thought they might have been special.

Will pick up a brush and some neoprene gloves.

I would look for a citric based paste, there are a few around, they tend to be slower acting but for home use are far safer than the industrial use nitric / hydroflouric mixes.

Something else you might try is an oxalic acid based cleaner, I havent tried it personally but a brewer i know uses it for cleaning stainless.

It's great stuff Dazza but you need to take care with it. I keep the industrial pickling paste in my home workshop.
When using it Ppe your self up to the nuts.
You don't wanna be getting any of that on your skin and especially your eyes.
The ultimate number 1 rule with that stuff is keep it out the way. Don't go storing it under the kitchen sink for your kids or pets etc to go routing around near it.

Been trying to think about the best way to lay this out. Maybe should have done this before welding the outlet on (but i have one more tin if i need to make some changes).

Option A.
Same dimensions as welder with pump sticking out the back. Does not leave much room at the front for fittings etc.

Option B:
Will have to increase the length and width slightly.

Option C. Pump sticking out the side and increase the length (or increase width to cover the pump).

It's no big drama if it's bigger than the welder. You need space in there to work on the thing. There is nothing more frustrating when you find a leak on a hose joint and you need to strip the whole thing down just to change a hose clip. Trust me I've been there.

It doesn't matter which one you go for so long as you
A) can access the tank top
b) have plenty of space to get to the hose clips
C) the welder nicely plonks on top.

Personally I think the idea of keeping the pump head out is a good one.
It may not look as neat as it would all boxed in but it will certainly offer an improvement to its efficiency.

Those pumps don't need priming. They'll pull from meters away. Also if the tank is on top the welder can't be.

Another thing I'd do is put a couple of tacks on those nuts to the tank bottom half so you can remove the top half without removing the tank or trying to get spanners in under it.

Very good idea Richard it was a pita to do them up us as i could not get a small socket or spanner on them.

Very neat.

To distract from the welding on the tank. Doubt it will look that good i have no idea how i will do the cutting and folding of the sheet.

While you guys are here, i'm thinking about selling the caddy c200i. I don't think it will get a look in now due to enjoying the tig. Although its not been used for months i bet i would miss it once its gone cant make up my mind.

Depends on whether you need the money daz.
If you do then sell it.
If your selling it cheap come see me first as they are awesome little inverters.
Personally though if your not needing the cash I'd say you keep it mate.

I bought something off here last night don't think the wife will be too impressed when it arrives on a pallet. Was thinking about selling the caddy and keeping an eye out for a used cheaper mig as i've only put 1kg of wire through the caddy.
