********! I just went into the workshop and found the rubber air hose had split and the compressor has been running most of the night
Anyway here is the pictures I promised, I am not trying to achieve a showroom finish but I'm doing ok considering the conditions.

Now a few close ups

I see there is dust on this one, this rear quarter was the first thing I sprayed about a month ago, should have dusted it

I got the roof fairly good yesterday, but I have taken the bonnet off to do it vertically

I hope the pictures aren't too large, they look ok on my monitor, just say if they are and I will edit them

Well. Its got a bit of a shine to it though some looks like what I would expect to achieve with basecoat. Difficult to tell in a photo sometimes but I would be tempted to flat a small section out with 1500 wet and see if it will compound. Nothing to lose. You will never get a really deep shine with it but it may be acceptable. By the way, if you have any T cut in the cupboard, chuck it in the bin and get some proper compound.

picture 11 to be fair looks to have a half decent finish, no heavy orange peel or overspray which should come up with some compound, as nick says some 1500 go quite gentle and polish back up

Hi guys, it all looks like picture 11 snoop, it's just I took the pictures inside the dark workshop with a flash, picture 11 is at right angles and close up to the top of the hatch and the roof.
Norsa I did try a bit to see what happened, I haven't got a polisher and they are very expensive, but I gave an area on a wing some 1200 follwed by 2000 and then rubbed for ten minutes with yes you got it T cut, it's all I had, but it was like glass when I finished I have never used these compounds before, which grade would I need to go from 2000 paper mate?

Farécla G7 from memory was for celly but G3 should do the job mate. You can do it by hand it just takes longer. Keep your cloth damp with a little soapy water.

If you look at the bottom of the doors in pic 5 you can see the carpet reflecting

So you need to paint the whole car presuming you are painting the door bottoms and you've cracked it. Cant see you calling up celly again mind.

Sorry, Norsa, I didn't understand what you said here, yes I am painting the whole car, I did everything you can see in the pictures above, I said look you can see the carpet reflecting in the door bottoms because you said it looks like base coat, believe me it's just the photo's it's all shiny you can also see the flash reflecting off it in some pictures. And no, I will never be spraying celly again now I know that base coat is safe, strewth it's expensive compared to celly though

i was jesting. What im saying is whatever you did to get the reflection from the bottom of the doors is how to get reflection on all the panels. Its not that base coat is expensive its that celly is cheap.

Ahhh ok got you now mate So with the base coat I presume I spray just enough to colour and I believe it's thinned 50% so I shouldn't use as much as the celly anyway, is that correct mate?

Most basecoats are 1:1 mix. You spray enough to get an even colour then make it shiny with your clearcoat be it 1 or 2 pack

English and Aussie ones are right handed but the continentals and Americans use the left.

no you use the specific thinner for base coat

ive always used 2k thinner in Max Meyer and PPG. Never had a problem but I believe some base coats are sensitive.
