I’ve no idea but unless the bent but is a designed bent bit I’d say flimsy.

mates mum has something similar for making logs into kindling. It’s ok at what it does.

I've got one somewhere in the shed. It wouldn't tackle half of the stuff my big one does and it's awkward to operate down on the floor. It would be better with a stand they sell to get it to a reasonable height but it's not up to the big knotty stuff.

some one local is selling one for 100 quid thats why i asked, probably better to spend the £100 on a this build

thats what i thought they get mullered trying to push through knotty stuff and burns out the motors!

my problem in building a hydraulic one was its too expensive to do so

the kinetic one i can build even from basic parts the weighted wheels are a problem but im aware of things that are heavy

the next problem is the bar and cog for it

I worked out that i could have a sacrificial cog that would get destroyed but easily replaced by another therefore the bar cog would remain safe with no to less damage on it

That's why I got to make mine with what i have cheap ram and pump off a mate.

Well today I finished the splitter and used it for a while before breaking it! well it still works but I need to upgrade the rails on the inside of the RSJ web, 6mm was not thick enough, I have some 20mm here that might be over kill though.

where/how did they bend/break?


make them longer, and add a triangle piece between the pusher plate and the top piece that runs over the rsj (to stop it trying to twist)

the bottom runner which runs along inside the runs make that longer too, and have it stick out the front, as the ram goes forwards it'll go under the axe/sharp bit.... but that's ok

it;ll stop the front edge digging in as the pusher plate tries to lift is when you're pushing as log forward

unless they bent down? if that's the case they're pivoting around the bolt holes so there's not much meat there for the top/bottom plates, so wider would fix that :-)

ill post some pics they bent downwards, it dont help that the web aint flat either, I might have to grind the inner web a bit flatter

I did take it easy for while then threw some proper bendy and twin branch pine at it it maxed out at 10000psi
