Thats them ,,, I reversed the flow and used the pan scrubs as a rough primary filter ,, depending on the make of filter depends where the fuel enters and leaves , but they can be reversed by swapping the ins and outs on the filter heads the pan scrubs still let water seperate but also worked like the white plastic gause in the old tank outlet filters ,, I found thata quick wash and the pan scrubs were as good as new and you only used a secondary filter once in a blue moon ,,, not perfect but fast and easy , again with twin engines popping into the engine room to swap the change over lever only took a few seconds , and the other engine gave you way and steering so you were never in danger of anything nasty happening ,,, a battery couple switch is a mighty handy thing to have too ,,,,

why done no-one with boats use filters like these?
I'm assuming their must be a good reason?
really need some kind of pump to prime them after a filter change but that's about it?

Not meant to use plastic or glass filter bowls, thats not to say people dont fit them.

I also thought the same thing. I thought they were banned under the Boat Safety Scheme (obligatory survey on waters administrated by the Canal and Rivers Trust), but I was wrong, apparently you can use them.

Didnt know that, I guess regs get updated as more and more stuff becomes plastic.
Cant see water filters being fire resistant or very impact resistant under the guidelines as above.
I guess being sold as for use in filtering fuels prior to use, not in use, such as reclaimed frying oils.

Cheers, just watched a load of videos, I already have a facet red top and for £40 can get a copy racor. A few bits of hose and some 8mm copper pipe and I could let it run for a few hours

Thats my plane, I did use a 2 feet long piece of copper tub on the suction end so I can poke it into the corners of the tank, another job I have yet to do!
Add a bit 4ft long to his 2ft bit and . . .

Id be surprised if a big tank like that wasnt baffled, that size does it not have an inspection opening of some sort?

It does, probably about 15" x 15" opening at the very front. I'd imagine it is baffled too but don't know if it's lengthways or across. If it's across then there is no way of getting to the bottom.

Baffels are often bothways. But fore and aft is most important as reduces whats called free surface effect. Which is 5he rolling moment caused by the liquid surface moving. Think Herald of Free Enterprise.
