Just a main tank, lost the starboard engine again and the port one only just got us moored up. Can't be arsed with it now. Called the breakdown people again so they can come out again tomorrow. We are just 3 hours from where we need to get to as well.

Really wants the tank out and treating if it’s got diesel bug. I’d be sourcing a temp tank to get you where you need to go

Should have had biocide in before itwas laid up. The sulphate reducing bacteria grow in the bottom of the tank inthe water, that drops out from condensation as the atmospheric temperature changes. Blocks filters real quick.
If possible clean out the tank and fill with fresh.

After a rack of ribs and a cider I've had a think and I'm thinking of sourcing 2 25liter containers with new diesel and using them as fuel tanks to get us to the marina. Its about a 3 hour trip so that should be enough fuel.
The have the tank drained and cleaned before refilling with new diesel and filters.

This morning had another engineer out, he changed all 6 filters and checked and cleaned the fuel pick up pipes in the tank as one was partially blocked.
He also pulled up some fuel from the bottom of the tank and no water from what we can see. The diesel is a little cloudy and he advised having it polished as there must be 250l still in the tank.
No further issues and we made it to the new marina this afternoon.

fit two agglomerators and a change over switch , its a cheap version of a racor twin set up , as soon as it splutters flip the lever and keep going clean the offending agglomerator and repeat , I used that set up and packed the water separator part with plastic pan scrubs , it worked the very best , I had big tanks and they had 1200 gallons of fuel in them ,,, and diesel bug. I treated the fuel and polished it from one tank to another and eventually it got lots better , but it never actually got cured . Same engines by the sound of it , badged as Parsons , but just old d series marinised .

Flush tank out as well as possible, blow through fuel lines, new fuel and filters, diesel bug treatment stuff.
Not having inspection hatches on boat diesel tanks is a total nuisance by the way, for dealing with these problems. It is nice just to unbolt a cover, and be able to scrub them out.
