I bought it locally a couple days ago it's a seized TS350 most bits missing but the arm & shroud on it is in much better condition than the saw I am restoring so I will swap that over.
The original Mahle barrel and Piston are actually 100% scratch free and in good used condition. The spark plug was missing and the crank bearings are terrible condition so I think it sucked some dust into the crankcase and water over many years got down into it too from the missing spark plug.
Crank is trashed but I'll get some good spares from it.

Update on this TS480i. It arrived today and first impressions were oh dear its locked up or got some kind of engine damage!
The crank felt very stiff and notchy to turn over by hand. Like something was bad. I pulled the muffler and the piston and bore looked decent. I then went ahead and pulled the flywheel as I wanted to see was there something in there catching it. Turns out it was packed with dust but there are a series of magnets in there which are very strong. So that is actually what I was feeling. With the flywheel removed the engine turns over well and nice and smooth.

When I Googled this others have too on this same type of saw so it wasn't just me that thought it was strange!
The air filter is dated 2012 per the saw manufacture date
Its actually quite clean too. Grubby from it being handled but the pleats are clean. I will still replace it but it makes me wonder just how much work this saw has done in its life.... crank etc feel really good zero wear which ties in with that find.
So the engine is mechanically sound. All electrics are there and I don't see any damage. Fuel system did have dirt inside the tank so I think the fuel pump (which is really just a carb with no venturi) may be bad but a new genuine one is relatively cheap at £33 inc vat so not too bad if that needs replaced.
Recoil is missing parts and the saw generally has small parts missing all over it which I knew about before. I will go ahead and order the parts for it tomorrow to make it whole again then work towards trying to make it run when the ripped primer bulb is replaced at least.

Today I received Joe’s surplus saw. Started first time. He’s done a good refurbishment job. Can not try cutting in anger tonight rain has only just stopped and don’t want to **** neighbours off, as it’s getting a bit late. I got a new blade for it yesterday which I can’t wait to try.

Another update on the TS480i front. The TS410 with broken casings arrived today also so I pinched the recoil from it for the TS480i until the next parts order comes in.
I reassmbled the flywheel after cleaning out all dust thoroughly. Incidently I did also find a forum post on the interwebs where a guy said that he had problems of weak / no spark on a TS480i due to dust packing up behind the flywheel. So I may have stumbled upon the issue with this saw in its past life...
I sprayed the electrical plugs clean with contact cleaner and blew them out gently. Then I reassembled all. I could test for spark at least but the new primer bulb is not here yet so I can't try to start it for real.
I did get a good strong spark so it appears to have a working electrical system
Ps I found that a much easier way to test for spark is to use an ignition system tester instead of faffing about holding a plug and trying to pull over at the same time.
What I did note is these saws are just plain hard to pull over. It requires strength and to be fast also for it to throw a good consistent spark so I'll have to remember that. It is quite unlike the TS400s etc which are relatively easy to turn over. These are not easy mostly due to the very strong crank magnet pickups.

The new primer bulb finally arrived today for the TS480i and the saw fired right up first pull. Which feels very strange having no choke and it idles. The digital water control is all working and saw running great so I can only guess at this point that the dust must have been an issue for the PO.
In any case very pleased to have it up and running and the small bits to make it complete are ordered also.

New parts arrived and the other parts have been blasted / painted/ cleaned
Starting to go back together
I also have a plan now to upgrade this saw to 14 inch guard / arm / belt and it will also cost nothing It will be a TS500i then as that is the only difference between a 480 and 500 - the diameter of cutting disc fitted. Similar to a TS410 and TS420 whereby the only difference is the guard/ arm and the parts are all interchangeable.
I also did a compression test on this engine and its 150psi so essentially new condition.
New parts arrived and the other parts have been blasted / painted/ cleaned

I temporarily fitted a 12 inch arm and shroud onto my TS480i to do some work with it yesterday. It was to cut up an old concrete doorstep and it performed perfect. Very powerful saw it is noticeably faster than the carb models for sure. Never bogs down and just rips with blade cutting full depth.
The bit I like about it best is the automatic water system. There are no batteries or anything in this saw it runs the electronics from the flywheel coil. So no maintenance or batteries to replace and the water stops automatically when the saw is idling which prevents flooding too much water into your work area when it's not needed:
And it has the ability to adjust the water flow with buttons by your thumb. Yes you can do this with a manual valve on other saws but it's a slight faff and with this it's 100% consistent and you don't have to think about it the saw does it. Very nice innovation IMO.
So the last thing to do for that main saw of mine to be finished is to fit the "free" 14 inch upgrade kit. How is it free you ask? I bought a TS420 which was listed on ebay as Still 420 for £250 which is very cheap for that type of saw and it looks near new condition:

Then I will put the 12 inch shroud and the TS410 badge I have left over back onto the latest ebay saw and sell it on as a TS410 after. Locally it will make at least what I paid for it or more even in 12 inch guise so that's how my TS500i upgrade is essentially free
I am selling my 2x other TS400's now too. I can post if any members are interested in one pm me. They have brand new diamond blades fitted and fully serviced etc so £240 each.

I sold 2 of my TS400's tonight so they are away to do some work with their new owners.
So I no longer own a fleet of consaws Phew.
The TS350 was painted so I'll start rebuilding that next weekend.
The TS480i developed head bolt issues so it's taken apart at the moment.
The TS420 14 inch one is really too good to split apart so I'll keep it as is.
The 14 inch cuts deeper but it is noticeably heavier and not as nimble. So having the TS480i 12 inch one as second saw makes sense to me.
So that's what I have now really 3x of them. There are a couple of parts saws sitting that aren't really worth fixing but maybe next winter I'll return to them. (TS400 and TS410 both with broken casings)

The TS410 has the mounts broken off the engine casing. For it I will attempt Mag TIG Repair. (£100 or so for the rods)
The TS400 has severe damage to the crankcase and handle as it fell from scaffold or similar! So it's probably a parts mule unfortunately unless I get a cheap core and swap the recoil and other bits onto another one.

The TS420 14 inch was a bit of a heavy beast to use. To be honest after using it for a bit I realised I prefer a 12 inch saw. I advertised it locally and sold it on for a decent profit too so all good there.
The TS480 stripped its head bolts and I repaired that with V coil helicoils so its been doing a good bit of work and performing flawless. I have always said my Kranzle pressure washer was the best tool I owned but the TS480i is probably my favourite tool now. Excellent bit of kit
It's amazing how quickly they get dirty when cutting concrete. It will get cleaned again in the coming days

So I still have the TS350 to rebuild. And a busted TS400 and broken TS410.
The TS400 is all bent and casings cracked:
@angellonewolf offered a great price for a core casing and handle with bad top end. Which is exactly what I need to rebuild this saw so I started taking it apart tonight to salvage any good bits.
It still has its original Stihl barrel and piston in perfect condition putting out 140psi. So that will be kept and re-used as I believe the original parts are superior to any cheap aftermarket cylinder kit.
I want to keep this Stihl TS400 for myself for sure so I will be restoring this one in the coming weeks and get it running again.
