I have been using my 350 Super the last few days and it wasn't running well so I had a fettle with the carb adjusters, that's when I noticed the sticker with H & L on it and X 1 with an anti clockwise arrow...
I reset both screws to 1 turn out and it was better but wouldn't pick up off idle so I turned the slow screw out another 1/4 turn and it's way better that before
I also noticed it's really easy to under fuel it, by that I mean it looks like it's full up but if I tipped it sideways bubbles came out, I could then get a lot more fuel in!

Carb adjustment is tricky at times for me anyway. I have a taco that I must try using the next time.

My K760 Husky was a nightmare to tune even with a new genuine carb. Turns out the issues were the new ebay aftermarket coil pack all along

I fitted a used genuine coil pack and the saw ran sooo much better right away. So that's a lesson for me again on aftermarket parts - avoid full stop on these small engines. Maybe piston kits and air filters in a pinch can go aftermarket but everything else should be genuine parts.

If anyone has a spare used TS400 water kit (hoses, connectors / nuts & tap) let me know please.

So I have 2x more Stihl saws coming from ebay and yesterday I picked up a K760 Husky locally sold as "needs a service been sitting a year". Good compression the guy said.

I met him at a supermarket and it pulled over a couple of spins and felt like compression. When I got it home the pull would not work at all - locked up. And then with the cover off there wasn't even a spark plug in it!

Turns out the crankcase was full of water and the main bearings etc are shot. That's about the 3rd saw I have bought locally which was totally misrepresented and stuffed.

Anyway I tore it apart last night and ordered the bits to repair it so that's another saw in the sick bay.

Update on this Husky, I got it stripped down and all the casings and crank etc cleaned. This was the one with the crankcase full of water. New bearings and oil seals and it's now back together turning really smooth and ready for the piston and barrel which will be an original spare one I have VS the scored aftermarket one that was on it.





Head bolt was also terrible due to someone ramming an m6 bolt in there had to weld a nut on just to undo it. Helicoil repair completed

I have the TS400 in bits fully tore down and thanks for your ts400 core also I will strip it in about 2 weeks time and blast and paint all.

A cheap non running spares repairs TS400 turned up from ebay today. The coil lead was badly damaged on it, fitted a spare one and it fired rilght up and running great. I will give it a full service and clean down next.

Still waiting a week later on the TS500i sent by Evri 48 hr service - week later and still not left their hub!

Well this time it should be a running one! I see the tracking has since updated and now says it is at my local delivery depot. So I guess it should arrive today or tomorrow

The TS500i has been delivered- at work so I'll check it out later. It's the same fuel injected engine as my TS480i but the 14 inch version of it. It's a good used saw with no issues noted so fingers crossed.

The TS500i is here and stared up with 2 pulls when cold & idles which is exactly like my other one. And starts first pull anytime for the rest of the day. Seller sent it upside down in the box and with a full tank of petrol so at least I know the fuel cap is good as not a drip of fuel spilled.

Digital water control all working as it should too. Rubber feet are worn out, the water O ring is split and a hose clip needs replaced as non original so I will replace those small bits but otherwise runs fantastic.

Joined my other TS480i



Both will get a clean down soon especially the blade guards. What I find works very well is a solution of mortar stain remover for floor tiles and hot soapy water. Takes all the cement residue off the paint and plastics.

I was wondering the same, but I'm not in any position to judge, on the excessive collecting front.

Like many on here I suspect, I have a strong tendency to collect tools and these 2x fuel injected ones and a TS400 is what I intend to keep long term. I will always have some DiY work to do, fabrication projects and classic car / parts car cutting jobs so they will get used on occasion.

The 14 Inch is great for depth of cut in concrete and steel when required. The 12 inch ones have great balance for cutting pavers and so forth. Having back up saws is important too if any go down during weekend projects you can keep working.

Having 2x fuel injected saws will also be handy for future trouble shooting if required swap parts over to test.

I always prefer to have and look after decent tools than be hiring or borrowing stuff that is not for me! I never borrow stuff in fact as I have all my own stuff. Good tools always hold their value too so if I find I am not using them enough can always move them on in the future.

each to there own some collet car some cards some (most of us here)collect tools cant see any problem in that


ive 2 concreat saws at the mo thined them down as to meny projects one sthil 350 super and a husky both running the sthil is going to a mate that will use it on a few times a month and being sold to him at cost to me but on the proviso its not to be sold and i can use it if the need requires

they are just sitting here and not used so will have to muck about with cleaning the carbs again if not run well soon so might as well go when there running fine

Ah now I understand. You only get weekends to do DIY…..if you retire, theres no need to rush these things, you can expand the jobs to fill the time available.
As a very occasional user now, if mine dies Im going battery. If find using Sthil fuel I get very few issues.
