Yesterday I had a small human with me.
This is our results.
This plane needed some attention.
The rust on the sole had left pits, So a trip to a friends garage and the surface grinder. Plus a cheeky Mac D Breakfast.
The handles were in need of a few fresh coats of French polish.
The blades was sharpened on a oil stone. It is now sharp enough to shave arm hairs.

Not all the stuff I get needs a lot of attention, some just need a clean and a bit of care.
This is a good example.
The blades was rsty and dull, the handles the polish was flaking.
The sole was tidy, but a few bits of rust.
Plate glass, 1,000 grinding paste and a coffee.
This french polish is more Meths than polish.
So a good rub with a lint free cloth and the old polish is soon revived.
No gold leaf this time.
This is a good example.

Fixed over two days this week.
A steel bench bought from @pressbrake1 a couple of years ago then given to a friend. Friend decides after a year that it's too big.
Cue a bout of cutting disc action and I was able to fit it in the estate and then move it through the house.
It stood for 9 months while I put off the inevitable reassembly.
Since it was windy I had to use MMA, vertical, at that. The last couple of welds were horizontal and, I reckon, almost acceptable
I now have some garden bench space

Disassembled and assembled a free dishwasher. The stainless steel sheets of the doors and box along the edges are razor sharp, cut my fingers in 3 places. New knowledge. Cleaned out any remaining dried food in the seals to factory condition. Shines. Test activation of programs and washing - OK.
The evening continued with gluing on the electrical outlet in the bathroom and gluing fasteners for the LED lights. PU sealant.

Used a similar method today to clamp a strip of wood I was gluing to a set of reclaimed doors.
The edges had been hacked off when they were first installed, over 100 years ago.
I made good the damage with body filler before gluing on the strip because it's now visable.
Probably sacrilege to the wood bothers, but it's going to be painted so I'm not too bothered.
It will get a couple of coats of Jotamastic 90 epoxy after I clean the glue off.
Not sure polyurethane glue was the right choice because it's a bugger to clean up but too late now.

Yes I had one of those, bought from Maplin while I was still at school to build my D&T project.
Even after lots of adjusting and fettling I couldn't get rid of the sideways slop, lost count of how many 0.8mm drill bits it snapped. Once the project was finished I binned it.

Today was mower wheels, tyres & suspension 
One of the rear tyres had come off the rim when it lost pressure, when I was fixing that I removed both front wheels as the valves had been creeping around, lubed the bearings & the steering while it was apart.
All good but it feels like it’s driving on ice now as the steering is so light - I preferred it the way it was

I am self-taught, I learned tig welding from YouTube bloggers. I watched hundreds and hundreds of hours of lessons, sometimes one video several times. weld, analyze, weld again. If it doesn’t work out, you put off work and think, Google it. My welds are far from perfect, but they work where they need to.
