If you own a ford that Forscan is worth its weight in gold...just bought a laptop with a full license installed for my MK trannie

I've used Ford's IDS software and found FORScan is far more user friendly, a great program all round and would be lost without it.

Unfused lighting used to not be uncommon.
The argument was it was too expensive/impractical to fuse individual lights, and if you used a single fuse, then a relatively minor fault could lead to suddenly being plunged into complete darkness, which isn't the kind of thing you really want at road going speeds.

I suppose a wiring loom fire and loss of engine is better than losing the headlight. Must be a German thing.

I know you're being snarky, but you'll probably find current EU legislation covers circuit protection, it's just most things are grandfathered until a complete redesign is done, or full type approval is required.

A classic example is the Mercedes Vario. Mercedes kept re-engining it to meet emission standards, but a requirement for Euro6 was the entire vehicle had to be type approved. As the Vario had never been type approved, despite type approval being a thing since the 00's, Mercedes deemed the cost of it making it type approval compliant not worth it, and stopped production. Plus they said a 6 tonne sprinter has a similar payload, but that chassis isn't physically big enough for 28-30 seater buses/coaches.

Today I 'fixed' our backdoor (mostly just paint ).

The paint looked pretty rough with lots of chips and this morning I just could not stand it anymore.

I used a primer I won on an auction recently. Don't know much about it.

Next was the top coat, again paint from the auction.

Nisocoat 2, seems decent

The usual suicide bugs

Now rapidly trying to get the paint dry enough so I can get the door closed!

The new pull starter fitted last year recently exploded, when I was fitting another unit I noticed the exhaust had a hole (fatigue crack?) now patched.

Fixed the auto vent on the greenhouse, the window wasn't closing and now it does. It's my wife's hobby growing stuff so it's good to keep everything working. I put a new knob on the slow cooker lid as well as the old one was breaking up. Couldn't do anything for the electric kettle though so we had to get a new one from Curry's.

Bought a handset screw driver (+) yesterday @ a mobile phones plaza. Opened my cell phone and cleaned the screen and the inner as it has accumulate a bit of dust. The screen is now very clear.

Screwcutting is not difficult. You just need to understand what it is you're trying to achieve and the steps you go through to get there.

I felt the same as we were not allowed to do it at O level metal work. You had to wait until A level for that, which sadly I never did.

Plus save a fortune on quality taps and dies.

I looked on marketplace for a sack barrow for moving stuff like furniture/appliances to move house. Found one for a tenner which the axle had broken off the frame. Otherwise it was in great condition and has plastic protectors for the furniture.


No penetration on the welds they just came right off the solid bar.

5 minutes work with grinder and mig and it's back in service

Well, after getting my locost MOTd a couple of weeks ago and the tester saying he had to put a lot of pressure on the pedal to get the brake lights to come on ( been like it since I built the car 20 years ago), I’ve finally got around to fitting the mechanical switch that I’ve had for at least 10 years

Oh, that might be it - I don't think it's ever been removed over winter. I also don't know when it last worked.

they dont like high wind either, but hate being tied closed over winter and not being untied when it starts getting hotter i wondered what this weird moldy growth looking thing was.. and the random slug of aluminium with an O ring on it was... that was the wax innards and the plug from the bottom of the window actuator !

The Fiat 500 had an advisory on a worn inner track rod at the last MOT so today I made a start on it.
I decided to replace both inner track rod ends and both tie rods while I was doing it.
Drivers side had a lot of movement to say the least
I had to cut the fecker off as it wouldn't unscrew from the the tie rod.

There's no torque setting that I could find for these as Fiat don't recommend repairs only fitting a new steering rack!
I did it up to 60Nm with a bit of thread lock.
The special tool I bought a couple of weeks ago worked very well.

sanded the doors and all the skirting and architrave have been filled and primed. just top coat to do and rehang everything.

and ive finally gotten around to sticking the club decals on the lorry. I've had them for a year or 2 now....
