This old style Hand crank Union Pillar drill came my way about 2 weeks ago.
There were some traces of the original paint in places. The drill itself did turn, but was notchy and tight in places.
The big issue with dismantling was the amount of burrs on the parts.
So lots of oil and dressing back had the drill in bits.
The chuck was in good condition, all 3 springs are there, but it was full of old grease.
One big issue was the top adjusting wheel.
You can see the biggest crack, there was 5 in total.
I made a jig to hold it steady and gas brazed it up.
As on other parts on the casting was gold paint/leaf I just re-instated it.
Assembly was carried out today.
Only new parts were new bearings in the running cups between the main shaft and threaded adjuster and a spilt pin.
