I have used a vacuum oil drainer to bleed loads of fuel systems with success , cheap as I already. had itOn TDCI engine you have to pull air through the low pressure side of the injection pump. All the hoses are plastic with moulded fittings so I doubt that would do the trick....
Whats the willow stick for?Brass is a funny one to cast.
I have had mixed success with it.
The best was when I used a green willow stick. Then cleaned the dross off, before pouring.
possibly this?Whats the willow stick for?
I'm off to find Germaine Greer and see if she's up for a bit of this
The acid, same as aspirin helps lifting the dross to the top. Makes it flows easier.Whats the willow stick for?
I'm glad I had the electric vacuum pump it was pulling for 5 minutes to clear the lift pump of airI have used a vacuum oil drainer to bleed loads of fuel systems with success , cheap as I already. had it
Didn't think of that but not sure I want to be spraying diesel around
Green so it doesn't burn too fast, but the idea is that the carbon in the end bit that gets hottest gobbles up the oxygen in the dross. Can accomplish the same with a cover flux but this can be as simple as crushed charcoal.Whats the willow stick for?
Nowhere near big enough for its secondary usage Lovely job thoughFinished cutting the tapered 6mm pitch buttress thread on the log splitter. I know where I would love to shove that, deep in the Ural Mountains

Salicylic acidWhats the willow stick for?
I wonder if you chucked a couple of disprin‘s in the crucible if that would work….Salicylic acid
Is the term I was looking for.
it helps to make the dross form and allow any gas to raise and allow a smooth pour.
I used a willow stick, as I ahd some, getting Salicylic acid at the time was a pain.
I tried, it didn't work.I wonder if you chucked a couple of disprin‘s in the crucible if that would work….
Think they contain that acid, but may be wrong ..
