Supposed to be doing a bit of tidying but, as anyone who knows me, that is one thing I am definitely not good at.
What happens is I start, come across something that takes my attention and I go and attend to that, eventually I get back to the tidying, well for a short time before the cycle repeats
Today it was a handle for the head of the Arboga, quickly knocked one up so I can now easily raise/lower the head, bit rough but it works

Well when it comes to things I am not really wanting to do then I certainly do have a grasshopper mind, just about to start the tidying up again when I spied the depth stop. It has always been a socket capscrew since I got it and is a pain as I have to go and get an allen key. Well I decided to make up a stainless crossbar one. Hauled a setscrew out the drawer, found some 8mm dia bar and welded them together. Went to try it and the bleeding hole was tapped UNC. I mean UNC on a Swedish drill WTFAh, the old 'grasshopper mind'
So grab an 8mm tap and well it is a hardened part so that it loosens when you slacken the screw, and I had picked a blunt tap that snapped in the hole. Had to shove it in the Chiron and bore the tap out with a carbide end mill, I then found a new tap and got it done.
Am I ever going to get back to the tidying? I think I know the answer
Hauled out the VFD I had here and wired it up as a test to see how it worked, seemed OK so hauled it back off as I will be using a different VFD which I will secure slightly better than this one

That Arboga wasn't made yesterday, even Volvo used imperial into mid 70's

Are you sure it isn't Whitworth, aren't the tpi the same on a lot of the sizes, just the angles are different.

I have UNC threads on an old swedish bandsaw myself.
For some reason I felt like making tool holders and reorganize the tool wall corner:
Mainly it's the holder for various files and rasps, I also made a small holder for a set of screwdrivers above it (T4-T10 torx set)
And a new chisel holder set that fits next to it

Very good ^^
But I don't like the way the bare tangs of those files are pointing upwards - waiting to impale a hand or wrist, if a person were to fall/stagger/pass out etc....

It's less than a fingers width out from the wall. I think basically everything else in my shop is more dangerous than falling just so that this will be what does you in.

Not the psu. The rotary encoder. Given the cost of these new I wouldnt have expected them to be plastic but they are. The crack allowed the encoder to spin on the motor shaft stopping it calibrating and zero hid input.
Some careful supergluing and its alive. $38 for a brass replacment from thailand. Proven to work so not the end of the world. No way I could machine it myself.

Good afternoon gents.
Another late arrival, early evening. New props for boat going on slip next week. Props blasted and painted with 'Prop Speed' a kiwi product to stop marine growth from adhering to the metal surface. Does work quite well, some of the commercial boats I do every two years, no barnicles or coral worm, now that's a plus
