My day started waking up on the sofa at 4 AM .
I've had dinner yesterday and completely shut off ,fell asleep in the instant.
Transferred myself to the bed
Get up at 7AM .
Normal morning routine stuff.
Went to buy the paint for my car
Went to take my brother van ,then went to the demolition to take my cars doors (bought the day I've decided to crash it on a trailer)
Unload the doors at home,then back to my brother's house and take the car ,stop at the Lidl when I've bought a socket set .
Back home.
Lunch then again light turned off.
Received a call at 5 PM which awaken me .
Hired for a repair job.
Went to fix two friers , half hour of work got paid .
Back home.
Received a visit from my brother and the children
Then went to take a friend home from work .
Back home dinner and applied some crome bits on my car
Aluminium tape to seal the doors because tomorrow will rain a lot.
Didn't have time or the equipment to replace them today .
I have to remove the side bumpers from them because mine don't have any , and i forgot to buy the filler to close the holes .
Anyway it was too windy to paint them and tomorrow will rain .
Hopefully I'll be able to fix it during Easter holidays.
Discovered that where my beloved dog has been buried , it's growing up a rose plant .

This should be stuff I've cocked up today....
So I went to rebuild the reduction gearbox for my bandsaw conversion. Now it's been some months,since I stripped this - actually, thinking about it, it was allready stripped, in a box, with knackered bearings. So I'd bought two new tapered rollers for the output shaft, and one new biased ball bearing for the twin start worm. Straight away I wondered which shaft needed to go in first. I had a fiddle around, and it looked like there was enough room for the wheel to drop in. So I built up and fitted the worm, and tapped in the bilnd oilseal. Mistakes 1 and 2...
Then I pressed off and fitted the two tapered rollers, cleaning as I went. Now to drop in the output shaft - bugger... it wouldn't go in. So I had to spike the oilseal, pull it out and the worm, circlips, spacers etc.
So then I tried fitting the output shaft first, but it wouldn't, without removing the new end bearing. So I popped off the outer race to see if it would help (mistake 3). This is when 11 shiny balls flew all over the floor.
So that sort of shot the fox. Until I decided to do something I should have done in the first instance (mistake 4, or should it have been 1?). Fit the output shaft to check endfloat. Bloomin heck, it was slack, and the only shims I had were the gaskets. I'm not sure why, but the side cover bearing recess machining was really poor. So now I have to shim the bronze wheel. But which side? Do I go for half and half? Ie guess it? Anyway, new bearing and seal needed before I try again....

Robert’s shelter is slightly taller than standard at about 6’6” the stub wall is there to achieve that and because like a lot of them the curved sheets he bought first were cut off at ground level when they were removed. Standard height was just slightly over 6 foot I believe.
Your neighbours one sounds like a nice little nook. Although I must admit that having constructed this one and going down inside it, made me realise that they weren’t built for a holiday. Actually a little sobering.

As for models I think there was only one standard pattern made in several places throughout the country I believe. If you had a large enough family you could have an extra pair of curved sheets to make room. And you sometimes see them widened in the middle with a flat sheet on top but I don’t know if that happened much at the time.

Since it's raining I've been forced to repair the windshield wipers .
Managed to repair them ...
Broken the windshield.
I'm extremely tired everything in my life is going bad

Like others I've made a bit more room for my 'stuff'
I dug the café racer out for the first time in 5 years nearly dropped it be'jablers it's a heavy old tank! I then rediscovered that as I'd lowered it a fair bit at the front that it's almost impossible to get on the centre stand!!! I then gave it a spray of GT85 and put it back.

You can just see the FZR hiding in the background.


I now have some room to service the TRX850 if I get time...

My girlfriend found a nice, solid wood desk with no legs in a charity shop, and some legs that with no top in another, but then got stuck conveniently just before I visited.

Of course she lives far from my stash of tools and hardware, but we found a Ferrero Rocher box of plasterboard screws and a mystery hex bit which sort of fit them, five snapped screws later and she's got a decent desk at last. The corners where the original legs mounted want something to fill them in but it'll do for now, not bad for nearly free.

Well, I made some progress. Fitted the whole lot back together, removed som 3.5 thou plastic gasket shims, and it only just has zero play. If I take the last shim out it tightens up. The backlash between the shafts is still there, so I’m going with it as is.

If they were designed for WW2 type warfare I recon you need to go a trifle lower for todays ordinance ,say about 30 meters.

Scary isn’t it. Mind you with all the ww2 activity at work I’ve been reading up about barnes Wallis. Fascinating bloke with some quite literally devastating ideas…
