Someone posted a reel of silicon bronze in a thread.
Shortly after I was browsing and saw a photo. (Not sure what thread it was in) but I thought it was an item you had posted. As I click off it I lost where I was looking)

I may be wrong but whoever it was used silicon bronze as a repair I "think"
I did think it was you who had posted though.

Although they are nice it wasn't those.. As I say it may not have been you. All I remember was a photo with an oblong in the center, with I believe was some sort of weld using phosphor bronze.
I am pretty sure it was using a roll of wire....which is why I was looking for the link

It was @Dr.Al but it was tig wire not mig wire. Usually tig is used with rods rather than wire. I thought he had posted mig wire (i was mistaken)

A big fnerkin puller.

Well actually credit to @8ob for machining the round to sit in the liner. Thank you to @hotponyshoes for the round but we didn't use it in the end. Bob saw it and said "I'm scared... It's shiny, I don't like shiny steel". Well he chucked it in the lathe and I think we managed 5 thou for about 1/2" and succeeded in writing off a carbide tip and generating mostly sparks. So we found a lump sat on @8ob's workshop floor that was suitably rusty and used that instead.

So a piece of 150x150 box was cut and I just about managed to drill through a 30mm plate (had a large enough step drill) to make a top for it and then cue some sweat and eventually the liner started to move. Not too bad for a coarse thread in all honesty, about an inch of this liner done. Another 4" to go and then another 3 liners after this...

Made the rear brakes work on a kia rio .

the Misses and eldest share the car and don't look after it one iota it's been a decent motor though .
pads were a bit of a tinker to get out the splash guards are disintergrating

and a little concerned about the brake pipes only mot'd 5 weeks ago

then this evening cut some 4mm plate

hole cutter 'grinder and jigsaw it's some sort of heat deflector for my brothers fancy pizza oven , apparantly the oven makers make some but there about £100 high carbon steel their blurb says though I don't why , and theirs are folded from one piece , any ways it will get dressed up and welded tomorrow and then in the post .The cut out in the base is a 100mm diameter for scale. He can paint it with heat resistant if he wants .

Perkins 1004.4* from my JCB 2CX.

Also known as a Phaser / 1000 series engine - basically they did a few variants on it for different purposes. The Phaser was the road-going version in both 4 and 6 cylinder which had a Bosch VE pump I think, the 1004/1006 were the industrial / Ag variants in 4 and 6 cylinder form. They had a CAV injection pump instead of the Bosch one (I think better suited / tuned for industrial applications where it was either "idling" or running flat out). The Ag / Industrial versions varied with the Ag versions having structural bell housing cast as part of the block / sump combination I think.

At least in the JCB it can go forever on a tank of fuel if I'm doing loader work / driving around moving stuff with forks etc., if I'm using the backhoe and the engine is sat in the operating band (~2400 RPM I think without having to double check) she drinks fuel (goes through an 85 litre tank in a day).

I've got 3cx with Perkins 4.236. They seem to make an excellent engine.

I'm finally putting the finishing touches on the upstairs master bedroom suite of our "old house project." Just to give you an idea of the extent of work, here are a couple of "before" photos of the bedroom portion of the suite:

The photos below show what it looks like now, after I tore out a wall, added a large shed dormer, repaired lots of plaster, re-secured the original floorboards, re-wired the room with plenty of new receptacles and lights, installed lots of insulation, repaired the fireplace hearth and mantle/surround, and installed oil-filled electric baseboard heaters. I just finished applying the second coat of white primer, so it's ready for any desired colour scheme. The floor color is a very close match to the original paint used on the floor when the house was built over 200 years ago. I did most of the work myself, except when I needed help with things that I call the 'heavy lifting' projects, such as framing the new dormer, roofing, etc. The floor was cleaned up before painting, but only lightly sanded, as we didn't want to lose the wear marks and the hand-planed texture of the boards.

Tomorrow I plan to get back to work again on one of the downstairs rooms, which is almost ready for prime time, literally and figuratively. Photos coming soon.

Finished the heat deflector for me brothers pizza oven this afternoon

then I v'ed the overlap a little

ran a little test piece ,
It had been a while since I used the mask and battery need charging so a good rumage for the usb cable ensued .
then for some reason I went berserk with the mig



Oh dear oh dear

I really went mental why not all ground up ok it's going inside an oven any way
