Well, as many have discovered, the handle that comes with the Forster press is overly long so instead of buying the OEM offering I set to and made a replacement, shorter, handle. Now I happen to have a great deal of 20mm bronze lying about and even though I say so myself the thread I cut is lovely. 12mm x 1.75 then the pool ball was drilled and helicoiled so a match made in heaven, I am pleased with the result.

Today I finished making the fourth of my "holiday boxes" - boxes made using my travel tool chest and workbench thing. This one's another tea caddy for Keemun tea, this time made out of cherry:

Today is, alas, the last full day in Brittany and we'll be packing the car up tomorrow to head north. As Carolyn has needed quite a lot of rest time (due to the car accident earlier in the year and the still-healing broken femur), we've spent quite a bit of time at the cottage, Carolyn soaking up the sun and me hiding in the shade of the covered patio and making the most of having a woodwork kit with me.

In total, I've made four boxes, one of which I haven't shown any photos of on here yet. The one on the left of the following photo isn't, strictly speaking, finished yet (well, none of them are as I didn't bring any oil with me to coat them with). The one on the left is a little box with two small drawers and some carved indentations which will eventually have walnut knobs in the middle. My travel woodwork kit didn't extend to bringing a lathe with me so those turned knobs will be made when I get back home - I'll post a photo here when the box is completely finished.

I am staggered , unsure if its by the quality and craftmanship whilst on holiday or the disbelief you did nt pack a micro lathe

One of the most difficult fuel line replacement on a chainsaw ever

The small engine repair shop gave us just normal fuel hose, wrong length, wrong size, extremely tight fit on grommets and barbed fittings.
Didn't provide the formed hoses so another pain .
As I've had to work with short hoses in thigh spaces but I did it.
Replaced impulse line, the diaphragms and primer bulb too.
Already too late to tune the carb or attempt to start it.
But I've pressed the primer and I've not discovered any leaks.
Tomorrow we'll see if it runs and if the carb needs adjustments (I'm sure it does as they usually need little adjustments after those kind of jobs but I might be lucky)

Those jobs are enough stressful.
Cause you have not enough space to work properly.
The majority of the dealers don't know anything about small engines.
I've once had to send someone 3 or 4 times to replace wrong diaphragms for a saw.
Despite the old ones taken to compare with the new, nothing to do he kept giving me the wrong one.

I know when my daughter wants me to make something - she rings up and starts off the conversation by calling me Daddy instead of Dad. This time it was for her junior school - a thingy for collecting house points. You can buy them from educational suppliers for eye-watering prices, and I was going to buy some acrylic tube off the bay but it was way too expensive. We decided spaghetti jars were ok, especially as they were only 2.50 each at the local cheapo Poundland type shop. Apparently the kids were very excited when it was unveiled at assembly time the other day - little ones are very easy to please! ( Sorry, it’s made from the brown stuff, but it did involve using my home-build co2 laser )

Those hand-carved recesses for your drawer knobs are really nice.

Rescued some scrap from the skip I had last week to lash up a log holder to fit my workmate due to impending deluge of tree bits next week . It will be tethered .

Very neat ! On my effort you will notice that I carefully avoided any close ups of my metal sticking efforts for a very good/bad reason.
