I will do some welding stuff soon... this will be the seat for a workshop stool I'll be fabricating next week, perhaps even using TIG rather than MIG once the saga of acquiring a TIG torch comes to fruition.

Sadly, I did actually do some research and anthropometrics by doing some rough calcs on the size of my sorry ass and this 350mm diameter should cover it for now and allow for yet more middle-age spread. Made from laminated strips of 50yo school science bench iroko, of which I have a not unreasonable stockpile...

I still have nightmare flashbacks from fitting a 3 sided kitchen in a room about that out of square.
Designer specced L corner units base and wall. Pulled it off though.
150 quid tip from that one. Sticks in the mind. Not an easy week.

Turned 50 pieces of 45-70 brass into 45-60 to fuel my Winchester 1876.
Rough trim on my mini-chopsaw followed by final trim on the case trimmer.

Mounted in a collet to take 0.160mm off the inside of the rim to set the correct headspace. Feeding vintage guns can be a pain but well worth the effort.

Perry, what loads are you using

Was that Jim Goodwin's NDFS by any chance? I think Betrams in Australia are the only ones left in that business. If you know what you are doing many of the obsolete calibre cases can be formed from more readily available brass. I form .577 Snider, 577-450 Martini Henry, 56-50 Spencer, 11.15x57 Werndl and 40-65 from other brass.
For smokeless loads in 45-60 I use a hard cast 305 grain bullet from an Accurate mould over 27 grains of 4755. For black powder I load the same bullet but in soft lead over 55 grains of Swiss 2F.

I’ve mate who has 6 10gun cabinets full, ‘Top’n’tailed’. All off ticket. Some beautiful rifles

You can buy obsolete cases, or indeed any cases, without restriction but as soon as you put a primer in one it becomes ammunition subject to certification. The gun and ammunition have to be entered on your firearm certificate and you may be required to submit both to the proof house if it is an antique. A UK firearms dealer was recently jailed for manufacturing obsolete ammo and selling it to gangsters.

Is he the one in the west midlands/Birmingham area ? If so its him the police are looking to restrict the .50bmg rifles over.

That's the guy. I think the proposed ban on MARS rifles was prompted by the Las Vegas shootings but I don't know about the 50BMG ban. As usual the NRA respnse to the proposals has been pathetic.
